In the 2005 Main Event, US$52,818,610 in prize money was distributed among 560 players, with US$7.5 million as the first prize. The 2006 Main Event, won by Jamie Gold, is the largest single poker tournament by prize pool or by entrant numbers in history; Gold pocketed US$12 million for his victory. In July 2010, it was announced that the winner of the 2010 Main Event would receive just under US$9 million.

On June 2, 2011, the World Series of Poker and Cirque du Soleil founder Guy Laliberté announced plans for an officially sanctioned special fundraising event, known as The Big One for One Drop, starting on July 1, 2012, with a record US$1 million entry fee.11% of the money (more precisely, $111,111 from each buy-in) went to Laliberté’s charity, the One Drop Foundation, and the WSOP waived its normal 10% rake of the entry fees.

The $3,000 in tips comes straight from her memoir. The money helped inspire her to fully embrace the world of underground poker. Like in the film, she tried to learn as much as she could about poker through internet and personal research. Was Molly’s boss really an unpleasant man? Yes, at least that’s what she states in her book Molly’s Game,

Portrayed by Jeremy Strong in the Molly’s Game movie and referred to as Reardon Green in the book, Molly’s boss, Darin Feinstein, wasn’t the most pleasant of men. The scene in the movie when he yells at Molly (Jessica Chastain) for buying “poor people bagels” is real, according to her memoir. Was the real Molly Bloom involved in the making of the movie? Yes.

When writing the screenplay, Aaron Sorkin did not interview Bloom’s real-life lawyer, Jim Walden (pictured below, right). Sorkin said he wanted to be able to fictionalize the character to best serve the story and not have to worry about keeping him historically accurate.

Chad Eveslage took home just over $1,000,000 late Sunday night at the Bellagio after winning the 20th installment of the WPT® Five Diamond World Poker Classic. – Oct 24, 2022 Las Vegas, NV (October 24, 2022) – Chad Eveslage took home just over $1,000,000 late Sunday night at the Bellagio after winning the 20th installment of the WPT ® Five Diamond World Poker Classic.

Eveslage earned his second World Poker Tour ® title with the win, pairing with his 2021 victory at WPT Venetian. Along with the cash prize, the poker pro from Florida earned a seat in the WPT World Championship in December. “Bunch of emotions, very tired, happy,” said Eveslage following his win. “Before I hit the ace on the river, I felt resigned to defeat, then it’s just like ‘oh, I win.'” A total of 569 players entered the $10,400 buy-in main event, which generated a $5,519,300 prize pool that awarded the top-72 finishers with a payout.

The entire Five Diamond festival encompassed over 20 events, including multiple $25k high roller tournaments, and ran from Oct.7 through Oct.23. “Thank you to the Bellagio for putting on another historic Five Diamond Poker Classic and to all the players that have made this event one of the most prestigious in poker over its 20-year history,” said WPT CEO Adam Pliska.
