Can you win on slots with free play?
Tips, information and more to help you be a savvier player Everyone’s an expert on slot forums. Take this post on one I follow from a recent poster: Free play info. May already be known by everyone. I’m just a little slow. You will not hit a jackpot on free play. The machines are aware it’s free play and will not hit.
- If you are like my wife and like to play your free play down to 0, then cash out of machine when free play is done and use cash to play what you have won.
- Hope this helps someone hit on bigger spins.
- Poster on Let’s take this in two parts.
- Is the poster above correct? STATUS: Nope – full of bull.
- Can you handpay on free play? STATUS: You certainly can, and there’s video evidence of free play handpays.
I’ve written in the past about free play, and how a slot machine does not and cannot distinguish between actual cash and free play when it comes to payback. It does know free play is in the machine; AGS will even turn the font red to alert you you’ve still got free play.
- The casino tracks each for accounting purposes, primarily, and of course to know when the free play is completely exhausted.
- Meanwhile, the poster above seems to even get confused about how free play works.
- Once free play is bet through once, it’s cash – you an keep playing, you can cash out and go home, whatever you prefer.
(Although I don’t recommend no-playing offers if you wish to get more of them,) You don’t have to cash out and move for it to not be free play anymore. You just have to wager it through a machine once. Onto the bigger point around free play and handpays: The odds of getting a jackpot on free play are identical to cash, because the same RNG, same outcomes, and so forth are activated regardless if it’s free play or cash.
- You don’t have to take my word for it – there’s plenty of evidence on YouTube, thanks to slot channels recording their wins, including handpays on free play.
- Here’s a video where Diana Evoni hit a handpay jackpot on the last spin of her free play: Here’s a video where kbr420 hit it on the first spin of free play: VegasLowRoller hit this handpay on free play a number of years ago: How about this one from Slotlady hitting a handpay on her free play? Neily 777 hit an amazing handpay on free play in this video: How about King Jason Slots and his free play handpay on Dancing Drums: I could go on, but this is one of those times where it can be easily disproven.
Free play is as good as cash. And if you’re lucky, can become a lot more cash in the form of a handpay. I’ve never had a handpay on free play, but I have had a royal flush, winning $200 off of $15 in free play – and the odds of it happening on cash are exactly the same as free play.
Why do people believe free play doesn’t have the ability to jackpot? People want to believe the worst in casinos, they’ve never had any luck on free play ( so they remember ), and so on. It’s somewhat amazing to me how much they think casinos are out to get them – here’s some free play, now we’ll suck you in with no wins so you’ll spend your money.
They don’t have to do this. The games have a house advantage. They will make money in the long term. If you think that poorly of the casinos, you shouldn’t go.

Is it better to play one slot machine or move around?
Slot machines are dominating the casino floors, and the same situation is with online gambling. Slots have always been one of the most popular games in casinos and there are plenty of reasons for that. First of all, slots are simple to understand and don’t require any skills, which means that they are a great starting point for beginners.
- Also, slots sometimes have huge and life-changing bonuses that will set you up for life.
- When it comes to winning at slot machines, the situation might be a bit different than in other games since slots are based on an RNG (random number generator).
- This means that the outcome of every spin on a slot machine is totally randomized and based on an algorithm.
In other words, there is no way for you to increase your winning chances or deploy specific strategies that will help you walk away with some profits in your pocket. Even though slot machines are simple to play, the most common question people ask is whether is better to play only one slot or try moving around to different machines.
- Let’s find out.
- Well, mathematically speaking, there is no difference whether or not you are playing one slot or moving around the casino.
- Due to the fact that slots are built around RNGs, and the consequence of every spin is totally arbitrary, you’ll get the same fate whether you play at one slot the entire day, or move around.
With that said, there are some advantages and disadvantages to both methods. Some people want to play only one slot and hunt for the jackpot, while others want to try different slot games in one gambling session.

How do you know when a slot machine is about to hit?
How to tell when a slot machine will hit – You cannot tell when a modern slot machine will hit because the outcome of each spin is random. No matter how many times a machine has spun, and no matter what the outcomes of those spins were, the probability of the next result remains the same.
- But people often believe otherwise.
- One famous example of why is the gambler’s fallacy.
- The is an erroneous way of thinking about the probability of independent events.
- When people commit the gambler’s fallacy, they think that the likelihood of a random event is impacted by the occurrence of previous events, or series of previous events.
For example, believing that the result of previous spins on a slot will impact the result of present or future spins is committing the gambler’s fallacy. The result is not affected by what’s happened before. So if you win or lose one round, it has no impact on whether you’ll win or lose the next round.

What is the 5 spin slot method?
Advantages and Disadvantages – It’s first advantage is that it’s inexpensive and doesn’t require much bankroll to be successful. If you play high-limit slots, you’ll find you need a much smaller bankroll, say maybe only $500 instead of $2,500. That’s what I did.
Get Your FREE Guide Revealing When I first tried this strategy, I sat at a $5 or $10 denomination slot machine, put my whole $500 bankroll into it, and played until I’d made up to five bets or won. I did this on machine after machine, right down one row and up another. I won three hand pays on three different high-limit machines within 25 minutes, each hand pay occurring mere minutes apart as 25 minutes was taken up with slot attendants servicing each hand pay.
Over months, the casino slowly turned down wins from my 5-spin method. Over 18 months, those wins reduced from low 5-figure hand pays to 4-figure hand pays to making a profit of $500. I remember being disappointed, but then remembered it was still a profit.
- But why do operators set up their casinos to offer tastes? Because casinos want us to stay, spend that initial win, and proceed to empty our pockets into the machine.
- Yet, lots of slots enthusiasts can plainly see that’s what the casino wants.
- My 5-spin method says do the opposite of what the casino is hoping for.
Instead of staying and spending the taste and more, move on immediately to another slot machine and collect its taste. On machine after machine, collect those tastes! Get Your FREE Guide Revealing Eventually, the casino can’t afford to give out big tastes because everyone figures it out. Profit Can Add Up Fast Before spending your hard-won bankroll, first check if your casino has set itself up to have those tastes you want to collect. I know we’re all gamblers, but I care nobody loses their bankroll. There’s an easy and inexpensive test you can use first to check your casino’s setup.
- Get Your FREE Guide Revealing Test if your casino gives out tastes by heading out to the main casino floor.
- Find 20 slot machines with the smallest minimum bets you can find.
- Slot machines can be expensive to play even at minimum bet.
- Here’s the test procedure.
- Put your chosen bankroll into a machine.
- Make five minimum bets but stop if you win anything at all.
If you win anything on the first ten machines, continue until you’ve tested twenty machines. And keep track of how many machines gave you a taste before you moved on. How many machines gave you a taste? Was it more than half of them? Good, as the casino has passed its first test! Get Your FREE Guide Revealing Now, consider your remaining bankroll.
- How much is left over? With 50% or more machines giving out tastes, what was your return? If you broke even or make a profit, that’s great! But if you didn’t break even, that’s means your casino gives out tastes but failed to give out a positive return.
- That’s bad.
- Or not good, rather.
- It might be possible to make adjustment to your test procedure.
More on that in a moment. Get Your FREE Guide Revealing Our first evaluation was to see how many machines gave out a taste. Our second evaluation was profitability, to determine if the 5-spin method is worth doing at your casino. But first, consider this.
You might initially think an 84% return is terrible, but that’s not necessarily true. An 84% return might be wonderful at super tight casinos where everyone else is losing far more. Is that’s what happening at your casino? And what about breaking even? That’s exactly what you want if your gambling goal is earning players’ club points or playing longer by endlessly cycling your bankroll.
Frankly, your gambling goal determines if you’re doing well enough. Get Your FREE Guide Revealing But what if your return is too small? Can anything be done? Yes! Taste Test

Can casinos control slot machines?
Identifying Who Controls Slot Machine Odds – Who controls slot machine odds at a casino you are considering whether to visit? Who controls slot machine odds on the slot machine you’re sitting at? As I’ve discussed on my webpage Assessing Casinos, deciding which local casino you want to spend your time at is an important decision for determining your baseline success at slots.
- Get Your FREE Guide Revealing So, you’ll likely want to know who controls slot machine odds when you’re choosing between, for instance, an older, pre-2012 casino with standalone slot machines or a racino with many new video slot machines.
- The top-level choice is really about your own gambling goals, as discussed on my webpage Identifying Gambling Goals,
But whether your gambling goal is entertainment, earning maximum comps, or take-home money, having better odds of winning on a slot machine will help accomplish that goal. So, ignoring other important considerations such as drive time, the spread of the buffet, players club, etc.
- The type of slot machine is a consideration.
- Casinos with standalone slot machines where the actual machine in front of you has its own dedicated random number generator is relatively easily determined.
- Ask someone, how old is the casino? Or, if you don’t want to ask someone or look it up online, just take a look at the slot machine in front of you.
Specifically, look at the player card interface area. What does its display look like? Is it a touchscreen display? Get Your FREE Guide Revealing Or an LED display like those seen outside of a bank showing the time and temperature for a passerby to see? If it’s a touchscreen, the slot machine is most likely not standalone.
If it’s an LED, it most likely is a standalone slot machine. Determining whether a Progressive slot machine is connected to a single carousel, across several carousels within a casino, across several casinos owned by a single casino operator, or across several casino operator properties will be, as previously mentioned, the topic of an upcoming post.
Next up are non-video slot machines with touchscreens at the players card interface. These are all slot machines centrally controlled by a computer onsite at the casino. You can confirm this by learning the date of the casino’s original opening or when it was last heavily renovated.
Eep in mind that a very few casinos have both, assuming they have expanded their original structure not by renovating it, but by building a new casino facility right next to it. Get Your FREE Guide Revealing This is the case with Foxwoods Resort, which is itself an older style casino. However, they recently build Fox Tower right next to it, which is a newer style casino.
Finally, there are video slot machines. It can be difficult, if not impossible, to tell the difference between a video slot machine and a video lottery terminal. A video slot machine is controlled onsite by the central computer at the casino. A video lottery terminal is controlled offsite by the state lottery.
- The only sure way to tell the difference between these two slot machine types is to take a look at what the state gaming commission says they are at that casino.
- For instance, in Ohio, there are currently four commercial casino resorts and 7 pari-mutual racinos.
- The 4 casinos have traditional reel and video slot machines all controlled by a central computer located onsite.
Get Your FREE Guide Revealing However, Ohio’s seven racinos have a mix of traditional reel and video lottery terminals slot machines. The traditional reel slot machines are controlled onsite with a central computer while video lottery terminals, which externally look exactly like video slot machines, are controlled offsite by the state lottery’s central computer systems. Who controls what and how?

How do you play slots on Yakuza?
How to Play Pachislots – Pachinko slot machines have become a staple part of the Yakuza series. That being said, it will take an additional amount of effort to play slots within Yakuza: Like a Dragon, Here is a breakdown of how you can access the mini-game.
First, you will have to download the free additional content ” Yakuza: Like A Dragon Pachislot Machines” in order to have access to the mini-game. While the DLC is free, it will take up roughly 9 GB of storage space. After the content has been downloaded and installed, find the pink game controller icons on your map. Make your way to any of these icons that do not say Club SEGA. One of them will be in Kamurocho. Another will be southwest of Maruhan. A third one will be south of Theater Square. Once you approach one of the buildings, you will receive a prompt to choose which mini-game you would like to play. Choose “Play Slots.”
Can you play any game with shadow?
Shadow Cloud Gaming Features Overview –
|Coverage||Six data centers in three countries.|
|Supported DRM platforms||All|
100 % – Excellent Shadow supports any game that can run on a Windows 10 PC. As mentioned above, you aren’t actually subscribing to a cloud gaming service with, Rather, you’re subscribing to a high-end computer that you have remote access to. Because of that, you can install and play any game you want, so long as you have a way to download that game without a disk.
That’s a nice change of pace compared to services, like Blacknut, that offer a limited library of games (read our ). Even services that have a large library, such as Vortex, don’t stand a chance compared to Shadow (read our ). Because of its approach to cloud gaming, you don’t have to worry about DRM platforms.
You can install any application on your Shadow computer as long as it would normally run on Windows 10. Outside of, Shadow gives you a full 1 Gbps internet connection to download until your heart’s content. For gaming, that’s huge, especially if you’re a fan of DRM-free services like GOG.
- One of the main issues with cloud gaming is how it integrates with platforms like Steam and Origin.
- Although those services provide the majority of PC games, many older titles — take SWAT 4, for instance — require some amount of additional emulation to run on a modern OS like Windows 10.
- That requires a lot of coding and, in most cases, doesn’t work.
Platforms like GOG have done the hard work for you, though, and offer classic PC titles with all the emulation you need. Because Shadow allows you to download anything, you can play these games without any issue. You’re limited to 256GB, though. It’s not the end of the world — 256GB can hold a few games — but it would’ve been nice to have more storage.
- Thankfully, the download rate is very fast, so uninstalling and reinstalling games is a breeze.
- Click our 75 % – Good There’s no way around it: Shadow is one of the most expensive cloud gaming platforms available.
- At for the yearly plan and $35 for the monthly one, it’s hard on your pocketbook.
- However, you’re not just buying a limited range of PC games; you’re buying an entire PC.
Click our That changes a lot and makes the price a lot more reasonable in the process. Because Shadow offers you so much flexibility in how you configure your computer and what you install on it, the price doesn’t seem unreasonable. Although the rate would be far too high for a library of 1,000 games or so, Shadow offers much more.
The extra cost could be worth it depending on your use case. It’s important to remember that, with Shadow, you’re buying the computer, not the games that run on it. If you’re starting from scratch and don’t have a Steam library or the like, you’re going to need to shell out additional money to buy your favorite games.
That’s not great,, which offers more than 800 games from PlayStation’s long history for less than $10 per month (if you purchase the annual plan). As you can see in our, it doesn’t perform as well as Shadow, but it offers a great value. There isn’t a free trial or money-back guarantee.
- Rather, Shadow offers a $9.95 introductory rate for the first 10 days.
- You’ll spend the $10 when you sign up and you’ll start your normal subscription after 10 days.
- We’re not fans of the introductory period.
- Although it may seem like you’re getting a deal starting out, you’re essentially purchasing a third of a month’s worth of service, meaning you’ll be charged again soon after signing up.
Furthermore, if you’re going for the annual commitment, you’re actually spending more on the first 10 days. There isn’t a way to bypass this introductory period, either, which is a shame.95 % – Excellent Signing up for Shadow isn’t too difficult. After choosing between the monthly or yearly plan and selecting the state you live in, you’ll be asked to create an account, verify your email using a one-time passcode and enter your service address.
After that, you’ll be able to select between using a pre-configured Windows 10 PC or a custom installation. Shadow only runs with Windows 10, though it has apps for macOS, Android, iOS, Windows and Linux. However, if you want to change how Windows 10 installs, Shadow gives you that option. We used the preconfigured service for our testing.
After that, you’ll be prompted to install the app, but you aren’t ready to use Shadow yet. Because Shadow is essentially offering you a dedicated gaming PC with a full Windows 10 installation, it takes some time to get set up. Thankfully, that’s clarified in an email after you purchase your subscription.
It takes a while, though. After confirming payment, it was a half hour before we could start using the computer. Honestly, this process is more representative of what it’s like to use an actual gaming PC, so it’s hard to fault Shadow. However, after waiting to install, plus downloading games, it was multiple hours before we started playing.
On the local app, you’ll be asked to log in. Then, Shadow will give you some recommended optimization, including pausing all downloads and file sharing, closing any streaming apps and choosing the 5 GHz band on your router. Shadow will then test your bandwidth and, finally, you can boot up your PC by clicking the “start now” button.
The computer boots inside a resizable window and, much to our surprise, took little to no time to start. When you first load it up, Shadow will display the hot key for accessing the quick menu, which you can use to adjust various settings of the system. By default, you have the Shadow control panel, a link to support and Microsoft Edge on your desktop.
Because it’s a full computer, we quickly replaced the default browser with Google Chrome (read our and to learn why). Everything went fluidly while getting the PC configured. Mouse input was seamless, and we were able to transition the cursor between Shadow and our local session without any issue.
- The best part about the remote machine, though, was that we could use Windows shortcuts.
- This makes sense, given that it’s a full installation, but it was surprising nonetheless.
- Shadow takes a while to get set up, but you don’t have to be hands-on during that time.
- Outside of the 30-minute or so wait, the process is seamless, and after Shadow sends you the email saying your machine is ready, it truly is.
It felt like using any other Windows 10 computer, which is great.95 % – Excellent As we’ve said, Shadow feels just like a normal computer. After getting your confirmation email, you’re up and running within a matter of seconds, with no noticeable input lag.
- We were quickly browsing the web and multitasking on Windows 10 without a second thought.
- Shadow feels like a local session.
- For the most part, at least.
- There were a few minor hiccups — for example, scrolling lags behind just a bit — but those issues are easy to overlook.
- Eystrokes register immediately, and your mouse cursor has the same responsiveness it would on a local session.
For gaming, that makes a huge difference. The largest issue with cloud gaming is that it needs a lot of bandwidth with very little ping. By giving you a full Windows 10 desktop, you’re able to download the files you need to use the remote computer and have access to the entire session.
- The fact that you have isolated resources helps a lot, too.
- In practice, Shadow’s system pays off.
- We tested four games: Cuphead, DOOM 2016, the Resident Evil 2 remake and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive,
- Starting with Cuphead, we were shocked at how fluid the platforming felt.
- Even more so than other games, it didn’t feel like we were playing on a virtual machine, even with a game as precise as Cuphead,
DOOM 2016 went off without a hitch and, using the in-game performance monitoring, we were able to verify that the game was running at 60fps in 4K and 120fps in 1080p. There was the slightest amount of input lag, but not enough to break the experience.
- The same is true for the Resident Evil 2 remake.
- Counter-Strike: Global Offensive had some issues.
- The gameplay itself was fine — we tested a few rounds with bots — but the occasional hiccup in streaming would prove to be too much in a competitive setting.
- That said, if you’re in the market to play CS:GO casually, Shadow works just fine.
According to speedtest.net, we had a ping of 9 milliseconds, a download rate of 62.07 Mbps and an upload rate of 11.39 Mbps, which is far above Shadow’s recommend 15 Mbps. We also tested the same games on Android, and they worked just as well as they did on the desktop.
However, there aren’t any on-screen controls in the Android app. You can use touch for the mouse cursor and pull up your Android keyboard, but that’s it. If you’re into gaming on the go with Shadow, you’ll need to purchase a controller. It’s really difficult to justify other cloud gaming services when Shadow is on the table.
There isn’t a one-to-one transfer between it and a local gaming PC — battle-hardened PC veterans will tell a noticable difference — but it’s damn close. The price is high, but considering the performance, it’s well worth it.85 % – Very Good Shadow only has, but those centers cover a lot of ground.
- In the U.S., there are four locations: Dallas, Chicago, New York and Santa Clara.
- With those centers, Shadow is able to offer service to 38 of the continental states, skipping past Washington, Idaho, Montana, Utah, Arizona, Colorado, Wyoming, Alabama, Georgia and Florida.
- In Europe, there are two data centers: Paris and Amsterdam.
The Paris data center covers France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Switzerland and the UK, but the Amsterdam server only covers Germany. Because the server is located in the Netherlands, we assumed the Amsterdam server would cover there, too. However, according to Shadow’s international website, it claims service is unavailable there.
- The six data centers available are doing a lot of work.
- Thankfully, centers are smartly placed throughout the U.S.
- To provide a lot of coverage, with a few European countries getting a taste, as well.
- However, there’s no denying the potential limitations of trying to accommodate so many users with so few data centers.
That said, Shadow doesn’t make its service available to everyone, which, although disappointing, is probably a smart move. By limiting the availability, Shadow ensures its data centers aren’t stretched too thin, as they’re already covering a lot of ground.
Still, Project xCloud destroys Shadow’s coverage, as you can read in our comparison. Cloud gaming still has a few years until it’s everything that it’s currently promised to be. However, gets a lot closer to its promises than the competition (read our piece). Although the occasional stuttering may be too much for competitive gaming, all other genres work flawlessly.
Shadow is the quintessential cloud gaming experience. Click our Shadows performs leaps and bounds above the competition. That said, it does so at a higher price point. Do you plan on trying out Shadow? Let us know about your experience in the comments below.
