What is a bouncer in poker?
Dice Poker OBJECT OF THE GAME: The object of the game is for a player or team of players to line up five chips in a row on the board to form a “run”. The first player or team to create two runs wins! PREPARATION: Place the game board on a flat surface with enough room around the game board for everyone.
Each team must choose a poker chip color. All players roll one dice. The highest roll wins and begins the game. RULES: A player begins his turn by rolling all five dice. The combination of the dice facing up is to be read like cards in a poker hand. Viable hands include full house, straight, five of a kind, four of a kind, three of a kind, two pairs and one pair.
The Power of Position – Basic Poker Strategy
A player may throw the dice once, twice or up to three times to roll the best possible combination. After their first roll, a player can roll again anything from one to five of the dice. On your second and third rolls you can again roll one to five of the dice, including re-rolling anything you had set aside in the first roll.
- After the third roll place a poker chip of your team color on the board that corresponds to the poker hand combination of dice.
- Then the next player to the left rolls the five dice to start their turn.
- If the squares of the board corresponding to the dice combination rolled is already covered by a chip, then that player’s turn is over and they cannot play a chip on the game board.
Note: there are usually two of each possible combination on the board. When a player or team places five chips in a row on the board this constitutes a run. Chips in a run are protected during the remainder of the game. A player’s run may share common chips with their other runs, however, a player cannot claim a new run by adding chips to the end of an established run.
- The first player or team to create two runs on the board wins.
- SPECIAL SQUARE RULES:
- Center Square The center square on the game board that can be used by all players as part of a run, but cannot be claimed by any one player.
- Lucky 7

- Lucky 11
- Anytime a player rolls a combination of the five dice so that the face value adds up to eleven a player has the option to place a chip on either Luck 11 or whatever other combination appears on the dice (full house, three of a kind, etc).
- Five of a Kind
Anytime a player rolls a five of a kind that player may place their chip on ANY open square on the game board. Wild! Bouncer After all the “straight” squares on the game board are filled, every time you roll another straight the results is a “bouncer”.
- A bouncer allows the player to remove any one opponents chip from game board except a chip that has been placed in an already completed run.
- After all the “full house” squares on the game board are filled, every time you roll another full house the results is a “bouncer”.
- A bouncer allows the player to remove any one opponents chip from game board except a chip that has been placed in an already completed run.
PLAYERS: Any number from 2 to 12 that is divisible by 2 or 3 can play (2,3,4,6,8,9,10, or 12). Up to 3 may play individually.
- EQUIPMENT:
- Five 6-sided dice, one dice poker game board, and 100 poker chips (50 of one color and 50 of another color).

What is a whale in poker?
A high roller, also referred to as a whale or cheetah, is a gambler who consistently wagers large amounts of money. High rollers often receive lavish ” comps ” from casinos to lure them onto the gambling floors, such as free private jet transfers, limousine use and use of the casinos’ best suites,
- Casinos may also extend credit to a player to continue betting, offer rebates on betting turnover or losses, and salaries of employees may also contain incentive arrangements to bring in high rollers.
- The definition of a high roller varies.
- At Crown Casino in Australia, for example, it involves bringing between AUD$ 50,000 and $75,000 to the table.
High roller players often have very high table limits allowing the high roller exclusive use. Casinos compete on bet limits. In Australia limits of AUD$300,000 are common, in Las Vegas they are between US$150,000 and $300,000, and in Macau they are up to US$500,000.
- Only richer casinos can accommodate high-stakes gambling due to the volatility of results.
- High rollers may also be subject to exceptions from various rules and regulations; for example the high roller rooms at Crown Casino in Melbourne, Australia are the only licensed venue in the state not subject to a ban on smoking,
High rollers are said to provide only a small fraction of casino business. John Eidsmoe, in his book Legalized Gambling: America’s Bad Bet, claims that it is actually gamblers from the lower and lower-middle classes in the United States that provide much of the gambling money.
- The occasional wealthy ‘high roller’ does indeed exist, but he is the exception, not the standard.
- The fact that more than 50% of Nevada’s gambling income comes from slot machines as opposed to the card tables should be an indication high rollers are not the main source of revenue.” There have been many cases around the world where high rollers have committed fraud to provide funds for gambling beyond their means, after becoming seduced by the lifestyle.
This was the case with famed gambler Terrance Watanabe who reputedly lost over $220M in Las Vegas over a 5-year period, and was ultimately sued by Caesars Entertainment for failing to pay up on markers he took out during the binge totaling $14.75M. While high rollers may not provide a significant portion of the revenues in the casino industry as a whole, they can have a major effect on the net income of casinos that cater to them.
There are significant costs associated with attracting the highest-stakes gamblers, so if a casino takes this risk and the high roller wins, the casino’s expenses can be extremely large. Likewise, if the casino’s investment pays off and the high roller loses, the casino’s gain can far exceed its expenses for the high roller’s visit.
Related to high rollers are “low rollers”, a loosely defined term whose meaning changes with context. This can be anything from a casino regular patron who nevertheless wagers very low amounts of money – perhaps just enough to participate in casino loyalty programs and “comps” – to any average low-spending tourist.

- Big bobtail : A four card straight flush (four cards of the same suit in consecutive order).

A variation is the double-ace flush rule, in which a wild card in a flush always plays as an ace, even if one is already present (unless the wild card would complete a straight flush). In such a game, the hand A♠ (Wild) 9♠ 5♠ 2♠ would defeat A♦ K♦ Q♦ 10♦ 8♦ (the wild card playing as an imaginary second A♠ ), whereas by the standard rules it would lose (because even with the wild card playing as a K♠, the latter hand’s Q♦ outranks the former’s 9♠ ).

In the hand (Wild) 6♥ 5♦ 4♥ 3♦, it plays as a 7 (even though a 2 would also make a straight).
- Wrap-around straight : Also called a round-the-corner straight, consecutive cards including an ace which counts as both the high and low card. (Example Q-K-A-2-3).
- Skip straight : Also called alternate straight, Dutch straight, skipper, or kangaroo straight, Cards are in consecutive order, skipping every second rank (example 3-5-7-9-J).
- Five and dime : 5-low, 10-high, with no pair (example 5-6-7-8-10).
- Skeet : Also called pelter or bracket, a hand with a deuce (2), a 5, and a 9, plus two other un-paired cards lower than 9 (example 2-4-5-6-9).

For example, the game of uses a 32-card deck in which all cards below the rank of 7 are removed, and removes the 8 s, 9 s, and 10 s.
