How much hit does a prot warrior need in classic?
The 5% Hit Rating is required to cover the base Miss Rate. Level 63 Creatures (as well as ‘Skull’ Level Bosses) will have 315 Defense Skill, which requires 9% Hit Rating to cover the base Miss Rate. This is a requirement and is one of the most important stat for a tanking Warrior.

Is prot warrior good?
Protection Warrior Overview – Protection warrior is one of the two sword and board tanks, a class which basically has no magical powers they effectively just get hit in the face and hit just as hard back. It’s a pretty strong class defensively. It excels in situations where you’re taking a lot of physical damage and due to the nature of block the damage intake is pretty smooth.
- You do suffer a bit with DoT effects and magic damage (Unless the ability is Spell Reflect-able then you feel amazing as you just launch a bolt back at the caster’s face).
- Additionally the class is highly mobile, utilising a wide array of abilities such as Charge and Intervene, allowing you to charge to friend and foe alike.
Furthermore, you have Heroic Leap which lets you soar quite far through the air. You also support your team in the means of shouts, Rallying Cry boosts your party/raids HP pool and Battle Shout increases their physical damage done. However, one of the biggest pitfalls of Protection Warrior is that they lack in self healing; this means that if you do make a mistake you’ll need to rely on your healers to heal you up compared to other tanks that could do that themselves.

Should prot Warrior go Aldor or Scryer?
Aldor proc grants 200 ap for 10 seconds and Scryer procs an instant arcane damage for about 333-367 instant damage which can crit. It’s really not that bad but not as good as the Aldor proc. You would be hardpressed to find better pre-raiding. If you plan to go fury, go aldor.

Is Prot good for leveling?
For levelling 1-60, what spec of Warrior should I be running in pre-patch? As the title says, due to the XP buff I’ve decided to level a Warrior, what is recommended for the WOTLK pre-patch. Prot, Fury or Arms? What are the advantages/disadvantages of them? 1 Like
- I don’t know.
- Safe money is on Arms or possibly fury, I don’t think Prot has enough damage output or self healing to be really good for leveling solo.
- I’m going Arms.
Arms requires fewer weapons to maintain/upgrade but once you reach the specializations level in the tree you feel forced to pick one and pigeon-hole yourself or go with other talents. I think Poleaxe is the generally recommended choice. Fury you have to upgrade both weapons more often, but when you upgrade your main hand often you can switch the old main to your off-hand. Welcome to the World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King DPS tier list! We will be ranking each DPS class available for the expansion, as well as explaining each class’s position on the tier list. How the Specs Are Ranked Overall Performance: The raw. Check out the entire website, not just that page.
- If you like slow hits go arms
- other wise fury it is, most prefer fury
- you’d level better as prot spamming dungeons
1 Like Arms is pretty nuts as soon as you get sweeping strikes. Sweeping-whirlwind-cleave will instantly demolish whole packs of 5-6 mobs. Glyph of sweeping helps too. if you make a macro to use all those (You can add bloodrage after sweeping if you don’t use the sweeping glyph), and spam it right before your swing hits, you will get out all 10 charges before the buff ends It’s purely your prefereance but Arms is typically the go to for leveling until you will likely switch to Fury in later phases of the expansion (if you’re a raider, that is) 1 Like prot is top dps and fastest to level in prepatch environment 4 Likes Prot is the best leveling spec.
- It does great damage for being a tank and can pull a ton of mobs at a time.5 Likes With the amount of damage that Revenge does, and its ability to hit (2) enemies each time, and its low-rage cost, Protection would be the best overall spec to choose while levelling.
- It also supports survivability, as well.2 Likes Agreed.
Prot is the most damage and best survivability for leveling warriors in WotLK.3 Likes Yes because whenever you dodge block or party you get to press revenge and around level 20 you get improved revenge so it cleaves Prot is no question the best leveling spec for warriors.
You do just as much damage as arms and fury (if not more revenge is insane) with twice the sustain.2 Likes Beaupeep: Skotantusk: what is recommended for the WOTLK pre-patch. This is not a direct answer to your question (because I’m no expert on Warriors in Wrath), but this website might give you some ideas: Warrior is dog doo doo in PvE until TOGC Gear ICC 1 Like prot, revenge is op and it’s much easier to find dungeon party 2 Likes Krayz: Warrior is dog doo doo in PvE Sure, but OP wanted info about Warriors, so I provided info.
I agree with you and I probably wouldn’t play a Warrior in Wrath either. soon as you get revenge, protection.1 Like
- there 2 specs you do
- they both revolve around a ‘prot’ build, but most points are going into
- a. arms or
- b. fury
- option A is super easy- probably the most OP melee build atm It puts revenge on pretty much a zero cd.
the bonus is that revenge is hitting for realyl big damage. ungeared, yur revenges will hit for 2k to 4.5k
- in full brutal ive seem 9k+ revenges.
- option b revolves around using a shield and titan spec fromt he fury tree so you use a 2h weapon and shield- this is the fury prot spec.
- Just google/youtube these specs and itll show you the breakdown.
somewhat with revenge you go deep into arms and have jsut basic prot shield talents : For levelling 1-60, what spec of Warrior should I be running in pre-patch?

Is prot Warrior good in Dragonflight?
World of Warcraft: Dragonflight – Franchise: Warcraft Platform: PC Developer: Blizzard, Activision Publisher: Blizzard, Activision Genre: MMORPG Original Release Date: 2022-11-28
Tanking is a big responsibility and players who take on that role in Mythic+ or Raid groups have a lot of plates to spin. In addition to understanding every boss fight and patrol pattern, World of Warcraft tanks also needs to have mastered their own talents, rotations, and macros.
On top of all of those responsibilities, WoW Dragonflight tanks need to understand their own spec stat priorities in order to boost their threat, survivability, and DPS. Protection Warriors are a great option for tanking in Dragonflight content, as long as the players have their stat priorities in order.
RELATED: WoW Dragonflight: Marksmanship Hunter Rotation & Macros As always, exact stat priority does shift around a bit depending on each situation and strategy while playing this top tier tanking spec. There’s a general stat priority order that should be pretty safe though, so players will want to follow these guidelines as they reach the endgame and start making tough decisions around gear and stats for their Protection Warrior.

Is prot paladin a tank?
Protection Paladin Tank Class Overview – Wrath of the Lich King Classic Welcome to Wowhead’s Protection Paladin Tank PvE Class Overview guide for Wrath of the Lich King Classic! This guide will help you improve at your class and role, improving your knowledge to face the hardest Dungeons and Raids from Wrath of the Lich King Classic.Throughout this guide, we will cover many different aspects to increase your Protection Paladin expertise, including concepts like Protection Paladin talents and talents builds, Protection Paladin BiS gear choices, Protection Paladin stat priorities, Protection Paladin consumables, Protection Paladin gems, Protection Paladin enchants, among many other aspects of your class and specialization.
Make sure to navigate to other pages of the guide to find more in-depth information, as each works as a knowledge hub for their subject. Protection Paladin is really the jack of all trades and master of none or so the saying goes, however fortunately the latter half of that figure of speech does not truly apply to us.
Protection offers world class survivability, on top of having a toolkit that can go toe to toe with the other tanks in most cases. While we might not have the absolute best single-target threat as that award goes to Death Knights, we are competitive enough that it doesn’t really matter.
We might not have the highest armor or HP when compared to a druid, but that doesn’t matter because we have Ardent Defender which makes us an incredibly safe tank. The point being you will find us a very versatile spec with the ability to cover almost every range of tanking in Wrath of the Lich King while also bringing strong utility and is very easy to slot into a raid composition, making Protection Paladin a very lucrative tank.If you are the type of person who likes to choose your class based on its power in the current raid, we have prepared a Tier List that goes over the best Tank specs in the current raid tier and an explanation on why from our Class Writers.WotLK PvE Tank RankingsAll but a few of the Paladin’s abilities have gained major reworks to their coefficients and scaling properties, meaning almost all our skills now utilize both spell power and attack power to varying degrees.
The way threat works has been massively reworked. In effect, most DPS now have Salvation baseline applied to their threat generation and our threat is increased across the board, non holy sources now have a 1.43 modifier and holy a 2.534 modifier after Righteous Fury,
Forbearance —Now lasts for 120 seconds up from 60 seconds. Divine Shield —12 seconds baseline and reduces damage dealt by 50% instead of increasing time between attacks by 100%. Divine Protection —Paladin Shield Wall reduces all damage taken by 50% for 12 seconds, completely reworked from TBC. Avenging Wrath —Now increases your damage and healing by 20%, down from 30%. Also no longer activates forbearance but is locked out from being combined with anything that does activate Forbearance for 30 seconds. Exorcism —Can now be used against any enemy, but has a cast time. Additionally it will always crit if the enemy is demon/undead. Holy Wrath —Removed cast time, making this a powerful AoE instant that will also stun any demon/undead hit. Seal of Command —Will now always land on successful hit and cleaves up to 2 targets. Seal of Vengeance —The application of this can now be dodged, parried and miss and is treated like an additional physical hit. The damage proc at 5 stacks can not miss or be dodged & parried and can also crit for 200% damage. Seal of Wisdom —Now generates 4% of your maximum mana when it procs rather than a fixed rate. Seal of Light —The healing recieved from this is no longer a fixed value and now scales with your AP and SP. Holy Shield —Now has the old Improved Holy Shield talent built into it. Blessing of Sanctuary —Now increases your stamina and strength by 10% and the damage reduction portion of the spell has been converted into a % damage reduction buff. In addition to this, the user also recieve % portion of their max mana when they parry, block or dodges a melee attack. Ardent Defender —Recieves a cheat death effect, when you are hit by something that would otherwise kill you it puts you at 30% health. In addition any damage you take below 35% health is reduced by 20%, including reducing any excess damage beyond from a hit that would take you below 35%. This does away with the leapfrogging element from TBC completely and makes this talent bonkers. You are now virtually unkillable by any one swing and incredibly tanky to overwhelming damage. Vindication —Changed from a reduction in stats to attack power, making this viable against PvE targets giving Paladins our own way to deprive the enemy of AP.
Except the addition of Divine Protection not much changes to our old toolkit and it is not until we delve into the spell additions of Wrath of the Lich King that we will see the tone of the spec change away from great AoE control and damage into a spec with excellent cleave and great single-target burst.
Hand of Reckoning —A single target taunt, not on the GCD, does damage and has 30yd range. Divine Plea —A powerful passive mana regeneration ability! Finally a means for Protection Paladins to generate their own resources, while not strong enough alone to make us completely self sufficient, when paired with our other tools we are almost assured to never run out of mana. Hammer of the Righteous —A new addition to our rotation, no real quirk here. It deals damage based on your weapons’ DPS value and caps at 3 targets, or 4 when glyphed. Shield of Righteousness —A single-target nuke that deals damage based on our block value at a 1:1. This sees diminishing return at 2400 Block Value and hard caps at 2760 Block Value. Sacred Shield —This is a decent little hands off mitigation tool that the Holy Paladin will usually be in charge of, meaning we generally do not cast this in a raid environment. Otherwise very strong for older or weaker content like dungeons or farming where you will see its full value. Divine Sacrifice & Divine Guardian —A very strong raid/group oriented cooldown. When specced you can turn off the sacrifice portion of the spell on the Paladin and just reduce everyone’s damage taken by 10/20% for 6 seconds. Spiritual Attunement — Gone from a universal passive to a deep Protection Paladin talent, works exactly like the old passive in that you get 5/10% of your non overhealing recieved back as mana. Touched by the Light — Our primary source of Spell Power, will give you 20/40/60% of your strength as Spell Power, as well as modifying your critical heals. Guarded by the Light — This is how we will keep Divine Plea up on ourselves without the need to refresh it. With this talented you can expect full uptime on Divine Plea but also recieve 3/6% reduced damage from spells. Judgements of the Just — Effectively mirrors the attackspeed reduction that is afforded to other classes such as Warriors’ Improved Thunder Clap on top of also giving us some secondary effects like reduces the cooldown of your Hammer of Justice by 5/10s and increases the duration of Seal of Justice stun by 0.5/1s. Shield of the Templar — Gives our Avenger’s Shield a 33/66/100% chance to silence its targets for 3 seconds but also reduces our damage taken by 1/2/3%.
This is where the bread and butter is with Protection in Wrath of the Lich King. In this we find that we gain some top notch single target and cleave in the form of Hammer of the Righteous, Avenger’s Shield and when specced Seal of Command, you will quickly find how dominant we can be in cleave situations.
- We were and are still quite capable at AoE, but we are transitioning away from our reliance on Consecration for threat.
- Aside from this Protection Paladin like the other tanks are now much more self sufficient in their utility, potentially providing our own attack speed and AP reduction, as well as our own way to generate mana without being directly hit.
This follows a general trend on all the tanks in making them much less reliant on a correct raid composition to see themselves through on any given encounter. Albeit not necessarily unique to Protection, but we are also given massive raid utility in Divine Guardian,
Being the only tank with something like this gives us a keen edge against other tanks for any fight where you may need on demand damage reduction for your entire raid. As always it takes good planning or excellent initiative to utilize a tool like this correctly, so user mileage will vary. Protection Paladins are widely regarded some of the best tanks in Wrath of the Lich King.
It’s a very well rounded spec with good single-target, AoE and cleave potential with very competitive defensive cooldowns and high levels of survivability. However it is our opinion that most of the differences between the tanks are mostly superficial.
Because of this, one shouldn’t fret too much on meta and not feel forced to bring or play a protection paladin just because of its strengths. It is then good to know that all tanks in Wrath of the Lich King are very strong and this is a very balanced expansion in terms of power disparity between the tanking classes.
We offer as per usual our auras, for the entire raid in Wrath of the Lich King but also access to some very strong blessings, ability to Cleanse, This alongside our newly reworked Hands such as Hand of Protection & Hand of Freedom we are capable of controlling fights and supporting a raid like few others.
- With Wrath of the Lich King we also become the only tank with raid wide cooldowns like Divine Sacrifice & Divine Guardian and Aura Mastery,
- We are unique in that our Judgement effects are not shared across any class, this effectively enforces a quota of paladins per raid in most compositions.
- Mana While many of our mana issues are addressed in Wrath of the Lich King, we are still intrinsically tied to this resource, just about every skill we have drains our mana so it is imperative that we keep spells such as Divine Plea up at all times as well as try to utilize mana returned while in combat from Greater Blessing of Sanctuary and Spiritual Attunement,
As such in many ways we are very similar to the other tanks who use rage or runic power gained from being hit and hitting the enemy to stay afloat on combat potential. This also means that we don’t necessarily need to pool our resource for an incoming mechanic such as adds spawning.
Unlike a warrior or a druid, mana is not as transient and our resource pool is initially quite a bit deeper than the other tanks who start fights starved in comparison.Seals & JudgementsSeal duration has been increased to 30 minutes across the board and all seals will now deal damage when judged regardless of which judge is being cast, damage is based on their damage coefficients and scaling with SP & AP.Judgement debuffs are no longer based on the active seal and are no longer off the gcd.
Seals
Seal of Vengeance this is our bread and butter seal, behaves similarily if the old Seal of Vengeance & Seal of Blood were combined into one skill. The amount of power stacked into this one skill is immense especially after factoring in its glyphed form, Seal of Righteousness very vanilla seal, just basic damage and not very interesting. Seal of Command acquired via a talent in the retribution tree, giving our melee swing a holy damage cleave. This is not an auto include but remains a decent tech opton for those interested in maximizing their multi-target potential. Seal of Light scaled healing based on AP/SP. Seal of Wisdom chance to give a % portion of the users’ max mana back. Seal of Justice mostly a PvP seal, giving the user a chance to stun their target.
Judgements
Judgement of Wisdom gives anyone who attacks the debuffed target a chance to return 2% of their base mana. Judgement of Light gives anyone who attacks the debuffed target a chance to return 2% of their max health. Judgement of Justice mostly for PvP, prevents the target from exceeding 100% movement speed, meaning even a mounted opponent will run as fast as an unmounted player with no added speed benefits.
Blessings & HandsWasn’t it super inconvenient when our short but powerful blessings overrode our long term stat blessings? No more. These spells have been separated into two categories that work just about the same as before. Blessings will still override blessings but now, your temporary blessings have been converted into Hands which will only override other hands.
- Most buffs and debuffs have been categorized and will not stack with other buffs that give similar or identical benefits, for example Battle Shout will not stack with Greater Blessing of Might, as they are both attack power buffs.
- At the same time similar buffs with distinct components from eachother may not stack in the overlap but still award their unique (non mutual) benefits, such as Greater Blessing of Kings will not stack its shared stat benefits with Greater Blessing of Sanctuary, but will still award the player agility, intellect and spirit while sanctuary still gives the user damage reduction and mana back.
Blessings Hands
Hand of Reckoning single target taunt off the GCD, does damage if the target is currently not targetting the caster. Hand of Freedom works just like the old Blessing of Freedom except that it will also clear effects such as stuns on your target. Hand of Salvation reworked completely, now reduces current threat by 2% every second for 10 seconds. Can be paired with Glyph of Salvation for a damage reduction cooldown. Hand of Sacrifice now has a 2 minute cooldown and a damage cap. Hand of Protection remain virtually unchanged. Lay on Hands significantly shorter cooldown making it much more lucrative to use frivolously.
AllianceAll 3 races offer unique benefits to both the player and the raid.
Draenei’s Heroic Presence is still group wide and offers a great degree of value for not only your party but also yourself as hit is a lucrative stat. Gift of the Naaru, Shadow Resistance offer neglible advantages in PvE though may be relevant for PvP.Dwarves’ have access to the individually most powerful racial in the game through Mace Specialization, However to take advantage of this you are limited to maces only, which may or may not be difficult as you work through the expansion, you can’t guarantee that your best weapon is a mace. Stoneform is a fairly weak but notable on-use defensive that will give you an additional edge in survivability when you crave it. Dwarves also have access to a fairly neglible racial in Frost Resistance, Overall Dwarves look to have a very competitive racial lineup though it is circumstancial at best, functionally irrelevant at worst. Human has the broadest ranging personally beneficial racials in Sword Specialization & Mace Specialization, Since almost every weapon qualify as either a sword or a mace, humans have no problems getting full value out of either of these. Will to Survive is an immensly powerful PvE and PvP cooldown which while not universally beneficial in PvE can and will save you from poorly timed CC. Perception may let you find stealthed enemies a split second earlier but is very neglible in PvE and situational in PvP. Aside from combat bonuses their Diplomacy gives humans a small leg up on reputations, mostly a time saving racial, but may come relevant in raid specific factions like with The Ashen Verdict, getting your rings faster.
Horde
Blood Elf remains the only horde aligned race that can roll Paladin. Blood Elves have access to the powerful area control tool Arcane Torrent, it being off the global cooldown gives you a lot of freedom in interrupting and controlling enemies in both PvE and PvP. Magic Resistance works like the aforementioned school exclusive racials, but is universally good against all spell casting.
While most professions offer a wide array of possible benefits ranging from offensive, defensive, and to the very eclectic we will generalize most of these stats and break them down to its core components in order to compare it to stamina. Stamina (or health) is a largely ubiquitous benefit to most professions, is a chief metric we can utilize to determine the strength of any given profession to us in PvE.
Profession benefits may change over time and are susceptible to changes across the phases of WotLKC, though luckily the best recommended professions in phase 1 are the best throughout, namely Engineering and Jewelcrafting. Below is a parsed list of what each profession may benefit you with. It’s very noteworthy to acknowledge that some of these benefits come at a clear cost, since they may be occupying the enchant slot/option on their respective items.
As an example Inscription is considered a poor choice of profession for a Protection Paladin because Master’s Inscription of the Pinnacle is competing for the shoulder enchant slot with Greater Inscription of the Gladiator, If you want to change your profession specialization in Wrath of the Lich King e.g.
- Gnomish engineering to Goblin go here.
- Engineering Engineering is considered one of, if not the best profession for all of Wrath of the Lich King.
- It offers some of the least focused benefits out of all professions but despite lacking in an unitary goal or objective these comprehensive benefits add up to a very belowed package.
Nitro Boosts technically comes at the cost of -22 stamina because it prevents you from using Enchant Boots – Greater Fortitude at the same time, despite the drawback the utility of on-demand +150% movementspeed has immense implications for tanking. +885 armor through Reticulated Armor Webbing will generally come out to an equivalent value of +60 to +70 stamina, while utilizing your glove enchant slot.
- Gloves also offer the ill-advised Hyperspeed Accelerators, Hand-Mounted Pyro Rocket the former offering an additional DPS cooldown, the latter an excellent pulling tool & good DPS when measured up to other glove enchants.
- Less significant but still remarkable are the Flexweave Underlay which competes with Enchant Cloak – Major Armor, and Mind Amplification Dish against Arcanum of the Stalwart Protector,
All these give you ample option when personalizing your gear to fit your agenda. Beyond the item enhancements, Engineering also offer unique in-combat consumables through the use of explosives. These may range from powerful damage sappers, to strong CC effects, or silences,
It’s noteworthy to mention that Engineering also offer the most powerful choices for PvP as well as PvE, while most of these tools can’t be used in arena a lot of them can be utilized in Battlegrounds and world PvP. Jewelcrafting Jewelcrafting is by far the best stat oriented profession out there, not only does it offer us the highest amount of attainable stamina through a profession currently, it also awards a massive array of other potential stats, while not as immediately relevant for us as stamina is, may come well in hand as you tailor your gear to fit your needs.
Jewelcrafting is for the same reasons the best DPS and Healing profession as it is the best tanking profession, making this a highly versatile choice regardless of how you play the game. This profession does come with the drawback, as most of the value is intrinsically tied to your gems buyers beware here as it will demand more from you in terms of gemming your equipment and you might find yourself needing to re-gem often in periods where you acquire a lot of new gear.
- However Jewelcrafting is also widely regarded as one of the best goldmaking professions for those inclined to get invested into the auction house market.
- The way we extrapolate the profession benefits from Jewelcrafting is primarily through a unique-equipped (3) gem.
- This is obtainable through the Dalaran daily Jewelcrafting quest which awards 1 Dalaran Jewelcrafter’s Token, that is exchangeable for a Dragon’s Eye, that we in turn cut to suit our needs.
The cut is always an enhanced epic version of the mono-colored gems you know and love, making them significantly powerful than their ordinary counterparts, we can have max 3 socketed of any combination of these gems at any given time. These are not Bind-on-Pickup meaning they can be sold and bought on the Auction House.

Is Venthyr good for prot paladin?
Choosing the right Covenant – Before going more in depth about Covenants it is important to understand that any of the 4 Covenants can be played as a Protection Paladin. There will definitely be better and worse options but the choice will not be hindering your daily activities.
- Kyrian — Strong in AoE scenarios, Good generic pick
- Venthyr — Strong single-target DPS, group healing, and the ability to teleport!
- Night Fae — Utility for group members and, when planned well, high group DPS.
- Necrolord — Off-healing potential and single-target DPS.
Since Patch 9.1.5 brought the ability to swap Covenants freely (after reaching Renown 80 on one of them), you will typically be interested in switching between, at the very least, Kyrian for Mythic+ and Venthyr for Raiding.5.1.

Which covenant is best for tanks?
Best Vengeance Demon Hunter Covenant –
For Raid – Kyrian For Mythic+ – Kyrian
Kyrian is the choice for every Vengeance Demon Hunter, whether they want to raid tank or Mythic+ tank. Between the healing basic ability that allows tanks to clear their own status effects and Elysian Decree, Kyrian really can’t be beat. The Arcane damage from the Kyrian Sigil cuts through unlimited targets in the area (though softcapped at 5 targets with reduced damage after the fifth).

What class is Necrolord best for?
Vengeance Demon Hunter – Here is a quote about Vengeance Demon Hunter Covenants from our class writer, Excidias. Kyrian is the strongest Covenant for Vengeance Demon Hunter with Venthyr being the second best choice. Night Fae is normally the primary choice for players who main as a Havoc Demon Hunter and Necrolord is very niche.
While all Covenants are viable for all content, not taking Kyrian will drastically lower your overall damage potential, which can cause threat issues. With the ability to switch Covenants being more convenient since Patch 9.1.5, Night Fae can be used for pure single-target fights for greater damage. Here is a quote about Guardian Druid Covenants from our class writer, Pumps.
While all of the Covenants are definitely usable, there are some that shine slightly brighter than others. Night Fae, Kyrian, and Venthyr are the three that stand out the most for Guardian Druids, due to their powerful class abilities and Soulbinds.
- Night Fae is an amazing all-around choice, a very flexible and fun Covenant that excels in all content and is the highest DPS Covenant for raiding.
- Kyrian is a great Raiding and Mythic+ choice, the Kyrian-specific Legendary Kindred Affinity is an extremely powerful buff for you and one of your raid members.
- Necrolord is a single-target-oriented Covenant, which is decent for raids, however it generally loses to the other 3 in power and performance.
- Venthyr is an excellent option, excelling in AoE-heavy encounters and dungeons.
Here is a quote about Brewmaster Monk Covenants from our class writer, Sinzhu. While it is tempting to follow whatever tools like Raidbots and SimulationCraft say offers the most damage, it is incredibly important to note that all four Covenants can be used on your Brewmaster without being a burden in whatever content you choose to participate.
All of the Covenants are within roughly 5% of each other in damage for most scenarios. Of course, Tanks in particular are likely going to have to consider more than just damage in their decision. There is also the matter of what content you might be most interested in playing and whether or not you intend to also play as a Windwalker or Mistweaver.
Prot Warrior Phase 1 Bis Gear Breakdown
With that being said, different Covenant abilities will cover different niches, and you may feel that two or three of the four choices more solidly fit into certain bits of content, detailed below.
- Kyrian is the strongest in raid. A Convenient “hybrid” choice for PvE/PvP that is balanced in defense and offense, but its damage component requires time to build up. Also offers an extra health potion and is the best covenant in Torghast.
- Necrolord is equally best for raiding. Marginally strongest defensive choice, but still very powerful in offense. Scales well with multiple targets, but can feel frantic to play with. Provides an additional defensive cooldown.
- Night Fae has the potential to be strong for damage in Mythic+ and provides a large amount of offhealing for a group, though it is the only Covenant whose ability is capped to hit up to 5 targets at a time and can quickly fall behind in larger target counts. With the help of its Faeline Harmony Legendary Power, it can avoid falling too far behind the other Covenants. This Covenant also requires you to be able to regularly stand still for long periods of time to maximize its potential, but it does offer an extra mobility cooldown.
- Venthyr is the most passive choice, and slightly worse than the other three options overall, but can offer decent burst damage; the true strength of this Covenant is heavily reliant on fight length. It also offers an extra movement cooldown.
Here is a quote about Protection Paladin Covenants from our class writer, Panthea. While all of the Covenants have their place, some simply perform better on a day to day basis than others. Kyrian and Venthyr are the two that stand out the most for Protection Paladin due to their powerful class abilities and Soulbinds.
- Kyrian is strong in AoE scenarios — a good generic pick.
- Venthyr provides strong single-target DPS, group healing, and the ability to teleport!
- Night Fae gives you utility for group members.
- Necrolord gives you high single-target DPS but is quite restrictive.
Here is a quote about Protection Warrior Covenants from our class writer, Mwahi. While all of the Covenants are definitely usable there are some that shine more than others. Kyrian and Night Fae are the two that stand out the most for Protection Warriors due to their powerful class abilities and Soulbinds.
- Kyrian is the best for Raiding and Mythic+.
- Venthyr is usable in Raiding, but falls off in Mythic+.
- Night Fae is competitive alternative to Kyrian in Mythic+ and Raids
- Necrolord is a solid option in both Raids and Mythic+ for boosting your group’s overall damage. It shines in coordinated groups.

Which race is best for protection Paladin?
What Race is Best for Protection Paladins? – There is no “best” race for Protection Paladins as most races have on-use effects which vary a lot in usefulness, and your choice of race will depend on what situations you need the different racial abilities for.
- It is important to note that no race will perform a lot stronger than the others, and all are viable.
- Races with activate abilities will be a lot stronger than the others against content where their racial ability works, but no race has one which works everywhere.
- Horde Players can choose between Tauren, Blood Elves, and Zandalari Trolls.
While Taurens are the better choice defensively, as they get more Stamina thanks to, as well as a 5 target AoE stun, the Blood Elf AoE Dispel is very useful in many dungeons and even certain raids. Zandalari Trolls have a bit of variety of what to bonus they want to gain when tanking, and while their heals you to full over 6 seconds, it also breaks on damage and has very limited uses. Their slow fall,, is not usable in dungeons or raids. Zandalari Trolls can choose between a few different Loa abilities and, for tanking, two of them are relevant. causes your attacks to deal damage and heal in return. This effect has very minimal impact and deals approximately 2,500 damage and healing, occurring three times a minute. Meanwhile, procs Health and Armor, and proc-related increased survivability is nothing to be relied upon. Alliance players has a few more options. The Dwarf races are usually the better ones defensively, with Lightforged Draenei chosen for damage. Both Dwarf races have a personal dispel.
The Dark Iron Dwarf racial increases primary stat for each effect removed, while the classic Dwarf reduces physical damage by 10% for its duration. While most races have an elemental damage reduction, the Dark Iron Dwarf racial reduces Physical damage by 1%, which is very useful as a tank. If damage reduction is not your highest priority, the Lightforged Draenei have a racial AoE spell that deals massive damage to everything close to your target on a two and a half minute cooldown.
You also explode when you die, healing friendly players and damaging enemies. The classic Draenei Racial is weak, since it only heals 20% of your health over 5 seconds with a long cooldown. You gain some Strength from Heroic Presence, but it is still very low impact compared to most racials. can have great uses against certain enemies which may crowd control your character.7.

Who is the best protection Paladin?

Are Prot Warriors good in PvP?
General Information This guide will walk you through everything you need to know to play in a PvP environment. The guide will cover everything from talent choices, PvP talents, gameplay and rotation, and useful racial bonuses. It is most applicable to Arena content, but most talents and racial bonuses will work in Rated Battlegrounds and skirmishes.
If you were looking for TBC Classic content, please refer to our TBC Warrior PvP guide, Protection Warrior and tanks in general are oftentimes considered niche specializations for PvP, and especially arena, with very few regular players. However, Protection Warrior has seen high ratings in the past, and is currently capable of dealing high amounts of damage while averting a great deal of pressure from enemy melees.
The main struggle is magic damage dealing specilizations, as you have little passive sustain or defense against this type of damage. Protection Warrior plays primarily as a bodyguard, averting dangers off of a high damage dealing teammate, and trying to stall out a game long enough for the enemy team to run dry on Mana. Bodyguard, Morale Killer, Shield Bash and Shockwave, Protection Warrior can single-handedly ruin the enemy team’s chances of killing your team. This guide is inspired by Troma’s talent build and tested around his setup. You can find a link to his character, Twitch, Twitter and Youtube here.2.
