The last time I tried leveling a paladin, I realized, I already levelled a paladin (the toon that I’m posting from right now), and I’ve had so many epic memories from leveling this paladin; in fact, he’s the reason why I love the TBC version of prot pallies, because, with this dude, my entire party wiped to the trolls near the double headed godzilla boss in ZFK and this dude managed to solo all of the trolls while my dead teammates cheered me on! That was an awesome memorywould I be tarnishing that epic moment by leveling another pally thru a fairly low pop version of the game? Do people even play TBCC? However, the experience of leveling is barely given on non full servers and also on full servers your chat will be spammed by boosters though the general chat in zones mostly offers actual LFM for dungeons with normal people. If you want an epic adventure you need to play at the start of expansions. They are not like vanilla.

When you pair this with health stones and siphon life you have the makings for an incredibly durable solo class, this makes them great in 1v1 situations where they do well against almost anything that isn’t a rogue, and in battlegrounds they absolutely pump doing some of the highest DPS possible by spreading AOE damage with dots.

In battlegrounds you can even shift your spec to play a build with unstable affliction allowing you to deal even more AOE pressure while punishing healers for spam dispelling. In many cases though, healers simply do not have the Mana to spam to spell allowing you to gradually wear down the enemy team.5.

Solo Class Tier S – Druids One of the key features of TBC class design is that almost all of your spells carry over between specs, for druids this means that they have life bloom no matter what build they’re running, giving them one of the most efficient heals in the game.

Even when specked Resto, they still have some really good damage with insect swarm and moonfire carrying in 1v1 situations. Their efficient self-heals and consistent damage is elevated by their unmatched mobility, which makes them formidable in 1v1 situations and unstoppable in battlegrounds. Their ability to quickly navigate the map makes them one of the most valuable objective based classes and allows them to solo carry games even without much support.6.

Solo Class Tier A – Priests Priests shares a lot of the same strengths as Druids, though with 50 pound weights strapped to their ankles. With some of the best healing in the game, both disc and shadow priests are able to hold their ground in 1v1 situations.

1. And even when things get sketchy, you can fall back on a reliable AOE fear to quickly escape your opponents.
2. In battlegrounds, priests are easily one of the best healers with prayer of mending being able to efficiently heal in team fights, their healing is well matched by their damage with both disc and shadow being able to hold their own in that department.

All in all, priests make a really great solo PVP class and if it wasn’t for their limited mobility, they would likely be even higher on our list.7. Solo Class Tier B+ – Hunters Although they aren’t well represented in arena, hunters do amazingly well in both duels and world PVP, this is especially true if they’re playing beast mastery giving them access to the beast within talent.

With partial CC immunity for 18 seconds, you and your pet turn into solo PVP killing machines doing some of the highest damage in the game for its duration. When combined with a ranged mortal strike effect and viper sting, you have more than enough tools to consistently beat mana users. In VG’s the story is more or less the same, with every hunter spec being well equipped for different objective-based situations.

Even when they are not defending bases or slowing flag carriers hunters can do really high damage in team fight, cleaving targets with multi-shot while draining healer mana. So if you’re looking for a truly unique PVP experience as a pure dps class then hunter might be right for you, the only thing it truly lacks is a reliable self-heal, but who needs that when you can evaporate your opponents in a flurry of arrows and claws.8.

1. Solo Class Tier B – Paladins Unless you’re happy with hitting your opponents like a wet noodle, we highly recommend retribution for solo content.
2. For starters, Paladins have some insane burst damage.
3. Even without wind fury procs from their symbiotic shaman partners ret, paladins do some of the highest burst damage in the game being able to seal twist their enemies for nearly half of their HP.

And with bubble to fall back on, they have one of the few true resets for 1v1 situations, you could of course try your hand at holy paladin for open world PVP but you might find your enemies confusing you for some sort of deranged NPC that looks like a power ranger but with no power and no range.9.

• Solo Class Tier B – Shamans And rounding out the BTR is our final hybrid representative, in any PVP situation, shamans are able to bloodlust their party this works well for solo content but is amplified in VG’s where a bloodlusted group can quickly wipe out an enemy team.
• Their teamwide utility with totems and lust are unmatched by any other class.

By themselves, shamans of all specs actually do some pretty wonky damage enhance obviously has its place in the damage department with its wind fury proc RNG, but even elemental is able to do some pretty crazy damage with elemental mastery burst. And if you’re playing resto, the baseline damage of lightning bolt and your shocks is more than enough to fend for yourselves.

The main thing that holds shamans back in open world PVP and duels is their mana bar which can deplete really quickly if you’re forced to spam heal. But if you ignore this problem, shamans are quite formidable especially being able to fall back on ghost wolf to quickly escape fights and with shamanistic rage being one of the only true offensive and defensive cooldowns in the game.

If we put everything together, the best solo classes have some combination of high control self-survivability, good damage and different mobility options. If you’re looking for the best class to main for solo PVP, we highly suggest Mages, Rogues, Warlocks or Druids, since they do well in pretty much every aspect of the game.

• I can’t seem to recall how long it was to level.
• I read some people saying here that it took 40 hours that just seems long to me that’s 4 hours a level.

My recollection is that it took me about two weeks, perhaps a little more. And I was going pretty hard at it 10+ hours a day. It absolutely wasn’t four hours a level, or 40 hours, or I’d have banged it out in less than 1 week. Maybe if you cheesed it or did a lot of group content.

I did it solo, just completing all the quests in every zone (and I recall still having to grind half of 68 and all of 69 because there just weren’t enough quests.) 12 Likes I remember it taking a couple weeks, however I was also going in blind the first time.1 Like Yea idk 4 hours a level seems much longer than I recall.

I recently did it on pserver with double xp and it took quite a while. With standard XP rates, depending on the player, you’re probably looking at 3-5 days /played so 60-100 hours. If you know the routes really well it could get down to the 40 hour range, but I think the average player will take much longer.3 Likes That’s like 7 hours a level.1 Like Yeah, it is.60-70 is a grind.

The starting quest items/mobs there will be heavily contested, (and probably a warzone if you’re on a pvp realm), so it could take a long time to go from 60-62 depending on your server the first few weeks after launch.5 Likes

There will for sure be a lot of dungeon spamming to level faster, but in the end you need to do lots of these quests for items/rep. I don’t think that is possible without doing something like mob tagging.

I was able to explore and do all the quests in all the new zones, and it felt like an accomplishment to hit 70. Contrast that with my experience coming back at BFA launch, rolling a new toon, and out leveling every subsequent expansion’s content in the first zone. So many amazing zones I’ve never even seen from Wrath through Legion.

I didn’t even get to appreciate the work that went into designing those! 8 Likes Questings not the way to do it. Get full naxx gear, reck dungeons. It won’t take that long. MOST people who want to be will be 70 by mid week 2 or sooner.

• Yea I have a premade dungeon group.
• Hitting 70 is one thing but I feel like questing is bad as you need the reps anyway, so might as well sit in dungeons the whole time.
• I’m going hunter first so I need exalted with honor hold for the gun and revered with everything else for the heroic keys along with farming my dungeon set.

TBC vs Vanilla leveling speed? Tried looking this up but never really found any answers that were satisfying. Was just wondering how the levelling experience was in tbc vs vanilla? I wanted to play classic, but I just couldn’t deal with how low the drop rates for quest items were and was wanting to know if TBC had better drop rates? I know it introduced quest hubs and more quests, but I personally don’t want to put in the time if drop rates for quest items are the same.

It’s roughly 25-30% faster due to the xp nerf and some better optimization of areas (aka elite zones being made non-elite so you can do more quests for more reward), If it took you 6 days /played before expect yourself to get there near 4 days /played.1 Like Is there a difference in drop rates for quest items? That was a huge turn off for me was having to kill ie 25 boars for 8 meat to turn in for a quest.

That’s just a part of the old MMO style (aka Vanilla WoW, TBC, Korean MMOs, etc.) that you’ll have to get used to if you’re going to play TBC. Retail sped up leveling to such ridiculous levels that a lot of people were shocked at how much longer it takes in Classic.

It sounds like you were among them. Unless you’re playing unhealthy levels, I wouldn’t expect to go from 1-70 in just a couple of days. At the bare minimum, you’re looking at 100+ hours /played. TBC leveling is basically 1/3rd faster than Vanilla, but you’re still going to have those RNG battles with fetch quests.

That being said, it’s widely considered their best expansion (usually tied with Wrath), so it’ll be worth it.1 Like TBC reduces EXP requirements by 30%, between levels 20 and 60 IIRC. There’s also a LOT more quests, like 100+ quests added to vanilla zones, so that you don’t run out of quests to do.

• Ikato: Is there a difference in drop rates for quest items? No.
• There’s no such thing as killing “extra” boars.
• Those drop rates are planned.
• Just remember, those boars give XP, too.1 Like This.
• Eep in mind OP, that every boar you kill that doesn’t drop the quest item, still gets you a little bit closer to the next level.

Pre Cataclysm, the majority of leveling xp was not obtained from quests. The real leveling is from mob kills – quests just serve to direct you and give the mob kills purpose. It’s also worth noting that with the increased amount of quests, increased quest xp from 30-60, and the reduced xp to level, you likely will be able to skip a lot of quests that you find annoying.

Quests are just directions, but kills themselves are the bulk of your leveling.Low drop rates can be frustrating, especially in competitive areas for those drops (like the trolls in STV), but it’s only going to be more of the same in BC.As long as you can get in the mindset to just murderhobo everything in the area for EXP, you’ll level swiftly.

Its not like leveling with rested exp but its noticeable i think. Like Mini said, I think it’s a lot bigger a change than people realize. In Classic, there is a massive drought of content in the 30-60 range compared to the xp to level. I tend to burn out around level 30ish for that very reason as it just becomes more tedious than it is fun.

I love slow leveling – as long as there is enough content to justify it. In TBC it should be a MUCH more enjoyable experience in that regard, with the increased quest xp, Dustwallow quests, and less xp to level combined. It’s not going to be fast, especially by retail standards.

WoW is “Pay To Win.” I am not against GDKP. In theory they could fit within the world and its lore. The problem is that the person who buys the most gold can win the gear bidding. Most players do not make 50k gold on the AH through an entire expansion. Some do, and some make even more than that.

What Class Is Easy to Catch On? Really, what i am looking for is a class that is easy to learn and catch onto when I buy the instant level 58. I never played classic because life, but I now have the time for TBC and I dont know much about the classes and which is best to spend money for an instant level 58. What instant level 58? All classes are pretty simple and have high skillcaps imo. I would just play whatever you like in retail tbh.

1. All classes are easy.
2. Dps rotations for tbc are typically 1-3 buttons, without counting CDs.
3. Healers will need more awareness and being able to predict damage.

The boost that’s going to be launched with Tbc gets you to lvl58. Agreed, they are all easy to catch on. Pick one that looks fun. Well, for one mages have 3 talent trees that are all focused on ranged DPS, Mages have a good perspective, and a lot of skills that help with control.

1. In TBC, as a mage, if you’re deep into the Frost tree, you will be able to summon a pet, but pet control is not as big of a focus as it is with hunters or even warlocks.
2. You CC is also independent of your pet.
3. Mages are quite fun, don’t have difficulty finding groups, and are not particularly complicated to play.2 Likes If I were to do as you are, I would roll a druid.

Extremely versatile. Pick up herbalism and alchemy, as they’re reliable for making money. Hang out in Azeroth until you crank it to 300. If you do it this way, you’ll miss the leveling craze in Hellfire, and you should then be able to level your outland professions while you level your toon.1 Like So, mechanically most classes are pretty simple, but if you want a couple of the most simple in my opinion, as well as being generally desired and useful across the board, is either mage or paladin.

Paladins end up really shining in TBC as tanks, and also wind up becoming the best AoE grinders due to the AoE damage cap which effects spells like mages Blizzard, but not a “ground” spell like the paladins consecration. Realistically though, just play whatever interests you most, though, I will say whatever class you pick you’ll be having a lot thrown at you out of no where if you’ve never played older versions of WoW, and just get dropped in at 58.

I’d suggest at the least leveling some sort of alt just to get a feel for the game more than anything, and to really help acclimatize yourself prior to dropping into TBC. Also, the brain dead response of “hur dur go play retail” is old and tired and just lowers the intelligence of the conversation altogether. Stop that.1 Like I think he knows, he’s just trying to troll – as most people on the forums usually do. Warrior have lots of spiky armor that is easy to catch on.

Paladins as well but they have blessing of freedom. My vote goes mage. Easy to level, easy to play, has enough utility and convenience features (read: portals) to not be a one trick pony, and always desirable in PvP and pve 2 Likes For me, personally, I think Mage and/or Lock are pretty easy to “catch on”.

1. If you don’t want to Pet Handle, then I say Mage.
2. If you don’t mind Pet Handling, Warlock (IMO) is easier than a Hunter to manage.
3. Unlike the Hunter, Locks can just talk with Demon Trainers to give Pets their abilities.
4. Hunter kind of has Pet Trainers, but abilities like Rank 1/2/3/etc.
5. Bites, Claws, Dashes, etc., have to be trained through taming certain pets and using those abilities, out in the world.

That’s too much stalling for somebody trying to level quickly which is why I suggest a Lock instead, if you want to Pet Handle. EDIT: Not to mention, Hunters need Ammo for their main core ranged abilities, along with feeding their pets, to keep them happy, or they’ll run away. • In terms of current meta success then it’s any class that isn’t meta and has a deep kit since they have to put in more work to get equal success.
• Though other mage specs have a higher skill floor, fire definitely has a very low skill floor.3 spell schools so you don’t even need to fake (most mages don’t need fake until top of the ladder due to lack of punishment).

Overly tanky, DB off poly DR while also having shimmer. One of if not the most reliable burst window in the game. Frost definitely has a high skill floor and ceiling since it doesn’t have nearly as strong as fire and it relies more on faking and nuance in how it does damage.

• I mean I read through this and you got a lot of questions and answers.
• But a but more clarification would help.
• I don’t know every class well enough to speak for them but MW monk is the most broken class in pvp.
• I’d imagine dk, mage, druid (feral), and a couple other classes have a ton of keybonds to make them harder (for me in my older age my finger reach is lesser than it was 7 years ago, so I lose easily accessed keybonds).

Skill wise I’d imagine a lot of classes are hard but being able to keep up a rotation for dps and cc to me always sounds the most difficult. Gun to my head I had to pick, it’s ret pally I kid I kid, I’d say it would be really hard to be a really good ele.

I know that seems wierd. But a lot of key binds with the totems, need to off heal in some situations, setting up damage rotation, and also cc. ive tried pretty much every class except hunters, mages, and pallies (ive had low level of those but nothing serious) and honestly the hardest to me are feral and WW.

easiest for me are warrior and DH. this is based on ease of rotation, nothing else. Rogue’s challenging if you’re just picking it up, but it’s not nearly as hard as it was pre-legion. : Wats the hardest class/spec to play rn?

What is the fastest class to level in TBC?

Fastest lvling? What class has the fastest lvling so i can race to 55 and make a DK on the new fresh servers? 2 Likes Lock and Hunter are pretty easy solo lvling classes with little downtime between pulls. Hunter has always been the fastest class to level iirc.

1. Hunter or feral druid i’d say are fastest.
2. Hunter has the pet to tank most damage, and feral druid has their hots to pop between kills so you don’t have to sit and eat, you also have stealth so if you don’t have to kill mobs for the quest and just need an item you can sneak past things to get to it.
3. They both also have speed increase without needing a mount with travel form and aspect of the cheetah, but mount levels are reduced and cast time to summon it is shortened so it isn’t as big of a deal.

Not true for the new servers. Feral will let you tank or dps instances too. Onikaroshi: Hunter has always been the fastest class to level iirc. Pretty sure it’s been mage this time around, since there’s pretty widespread knowledge of their AoE farming spots.2 Likes If you screw up though that’s a lot of death.

I’d agree that it was a headache to learn them and the resets on the way to grave can be annoying, but the actual pull I ended up having a blast on. To each their own I guess. Good point of the 50% xp boost I have been maining hunter since Classic started.

• I used to play warlock in OG TBC, and I just leveled my boosted lock from 58 to 70 recently.
• Hunter wins that battle IMO.
• Mage might give hunter a run for its money AoE grinding but hunter is going to be less effort, less risky, for almost the same speed.

What is the easiest class to level in TBC?

Warlock – Available races: Gnome, Human, Blood Elf, Orc, Undead.

Orc, Gnome (Top PvE). Orc, Undead, Gnome (Top PvP).

Warlock is a class with high sustain and solid damage output. It makes them one of the fastest and easiest classes to level, it’s always fun having a demonic ally to tank and help DPS mobs down, relax and have a really smooth ride to max level. It’s really easy, the reason we would say they’re not the fastest to level is because they have no movement speed increasing abilities, they don’t have Aspect of the Cheetah, they really don’t have anything for speed but they do get a free mount at level 40 which helps a little bit.

It’s not totally free ofcourse, it’s like 40 silver maybe to learn the riding ability. In PvE, like in classic, warlocks are amazing, they have even greater utility with Soul Wells, soulstones and they have jaw-dropping damage. Warlocks have an easy time topping out the damage meters in Burning Crusade so finding a raiding guild will not be hard.

Warlocks received some nice talent tree buffs with Fel Intellect and Fel Stamina also increasing the warlocks maximum health and mana in addition to their normal demon buffs. When it comes to open world PvP warlocks are definitely some of the best duelers, while leveling it’s still hard to gank a warlock because of Voidwalker sacrifice; it is possible but it’s gonna be pretty tough.

1. At max level we would say a warlock can probably take on any class if played correctly because of Soul Link.
2. In battlegrounds and arenas warlocks are top tier! SL/SL warlock is considered by many the most OP class specialization in Burning Crusade whatsoever and with the support from a healer like a shaman or a druid which is considered by many the best healer and the crowd control from a rogue these three form one of the strongest arena teams known as RLS, so choose a druid teammate and your odds of becoming gladiator are super high.

We want to talk a little bit about each of the warlocks’ three specializations so you can kind of gauge what each one is used for. Affliction is great for leveling, it’s great for dungeons and raids. This is a bit of a change from vanilla wow, you’ll be running affliction until tier 4 when you have enough hit rating.

It’s also great for open world PvP and of course battlegrounds and arenas, we’re considering Affliction to kind of be SL/SL and you’re probably going to stay affliction for quite a long time for both pvp and PVE in the Burning Crusade. However Demonology is actually pretty good especially from levels like 50-something onward when you get the Felguard.

You can kind of play a little bit like a hunter, have the Felguard tank for you, it does good damage too. Demonology is gonna be it’s exactly like a BM Hunter as you level demonology but it really lacks in dungeons and raids. Some people have said it’s possible to play Demonology in dungeons and raids but seems like it’s just too much trouble than what it’s worth, we wouldn’t recommend it.

In open world PvP while you’re leveling it’s gonna be pretty good, especially when nobody has gear and you have a Felguard out it’s gonna be pretty strong. In battlegrounds in arenas it’s totally viable – Demonology Soul Link is super strong, the Felguard is super strong but again as more time goes on and people get more gear pets in general are just going to scale worse.

The last specialization, Destruction, not the best at leveling, we wouldn’t recommend leveling in destruction however destruction is number one choice for warlocks when raiding when they’ve got that Tier 4 to tier 5 gear. It’s gonna outperform affliction, you might have one affliction warlock for some of those talents in the affliction tree for raid utility – improved curses or things like that but destruction is just going to do more damage so ultimately you’re gonna want to switch to destruction and there’s two different destruction builds there – Shadowflame and pure shadow.
