How do you grind Ranged Osrs?
Theoatrix’s 1-99 Ranged Guide (OSRS) What’s going on guys! My name is Theoatrix, and welcome to my complete level 1 – 99 Ranged Guide, This article will teach you everything you need to know about training your Range level in Runescape, I will go through the Quests, the Gear, the Items, and some low level training areas, Then, I will talk about some higher level training areas, as well as the fastest way to get to level 99, Your Ranged Level Starting off with how Ranged worksRanged is one of the most powerful combat styles in Old School Runescape, Getting your ranged level up increases both your max hit with ranged, and your accuracy, Your Ranged Attack Bonus Your ranged attack bonus usually comes from your weapon and armour, That bonus increases solely your accuracy. Your Ranged Strength Bonus Your ranged strength bonus comes from arrows and some weapons and gear as well. This bonus will solely increase your Max Hit. At higher ranged levels, you gain access to some of the highest tier of weaponry, armour, and ammo in the game, which have very high bonuses, The Twisted Bow A bow unlocked at level 75, the Twisted Bow, scales to your enemies Magic level, making it one of the most powerful weapons against a lot of the Bosses in Old School Runescape. Ballista Also, there is the Ballista, which were not in Runescape back in the day, but can now be used to fire Javelins, The heavy Ballista hits some of the highest damage hits in the game. Combat Styles With pretty much all Ranged weapons that you use, you use, you have access to three different combat styles – accurate, rapid, or long-range, Accurate and long-range shoot at the same rate of fire, but rapid fire shoots 1 tick faster than accurate and long-range.
Long-range obviously shoots from a further distance as well, and it also gives you Defence XP along with Range XP, Accurate gives you an invisible +3 boost to your range level, which makes it very, very good to use at low range levels, since if you are training at 1 Ranged, you are effectively at level 4 ranged if you are using accurate.
Once you go above and beyond level 10 ranged, you should always be using rapid for the maximum damage per second and XP rates. Best Training Weapons Now I would like to go over some of the Ranged Gear, If you would like to see everything you unlock when you are training range, you can click on the Ranged icon in your skills tab, and it tells you every weapon, armour, and ammo that you can use. Now, all of these weapons give an attack bonus, and then pairing them with ammunition adds the strength bonus, You will notice that some of these weapons cannot fire high level arrows or high level bolts. The Dorgeshuun Crossbow The Bone Crossbow is a great way to train your ranged for a really low cost, since Bone Bolts are around 3 coins each. You don’t actually need to do a Quest in order to be able to use the Dorgeshuun Crossbow, Karil’s Crossbow One that not many people know about is the Karil’s Crossbow,
- Iron Knives
- Iron knives are a great way to train at things like Rock Crabs at a very low level.
- Mithril Darts
- But, once you unlock Mithril Darts, it is really recommended to use them instead, as they give the exact same bonuses as iron knives, attack as the same speed as iron knives, but they are a little bit cheaper.
- Blowpipe and Chinchompas
- At higher levels, the Blowpipe and Chinchompas are the fastest way to get XP, and I will talk a lot about Chinning further on.
Best Training Gear Now, in terms of Ranged Gear, you should always be using the best Dragon Hide armour you can wear. Above level 70, you have access to pretty much every Ranged Gear in the game.
- Armadyl Armour
- Armadyl, being the most expensive, is the best in slot for Ranged.
- Regular and Elite Void Armour
- Void and Elite Void are great budget set ups, and you should always pair your training armour with Ava’s Devices in order to not lose a heap of money while you are training.
- God Dragon Hide (D’Hide)
- For things like Slayer, when you will be using Prayer, God Dragon Hide works very well since it give a little bit of an extra Prayer bonus at the same time.
- Green Dragon Hide (D’Hide)
Green Dragon Hide bodies actually require Dragon Slayer, But, the other Dragon hide bodies do not need Dragon Slayer. One more thing is using wines when you are training Ranged. Wines reduce your Attack level, and your Attack level does not matter when you are training range. So, wines become a great way to heal up and they are ridiculously cheap.
- Useful Quests
- Now, I would like to go over some useful Quests that you should do before you train your Ranged.
- Dwarf Cannon Quest
- The Dwarf Cannon Quest gives you access to the Dwarf Multi-cannon, which, as I said, is the fastest way to train at a low level, and makes your Slayer training very efficient.
- The Horror from the Deep Quest
The Horror from the Deep Quest gives you access to the God Books. The Armadyl Book gives you a +10 Ranged Attack bonus. The Animal Magnetism Quest Animal Magnetism gives you access to Ava’s Attractor and Ava’s Accumulator. Doing Dragon Slayer 2 on top of that gives you Ava’s Assembler,
- These devices are highly recommended for range training, since picking up arrows will impair your XP rates by a lot.
- The Temple of Ikov As well as those Quests, the Temple of Ikov is a great quest for XP, and you get 10 500 Ranged XP just for finishing the Quest.
- Pure’s can do this quest as well, and it is a requirement for Desert Treasure.
Monkey Madness 1 and 2 Quests Monkey Madness 1 and 2 both give major benefits when training Ranged. Monkey Madness 2 is a lot better to complete, since the Chinning caves that you get access to are a lot better in terms of XP rates. But, the Monkey Madness 1 Chinning Caves still work for lower levels.
Low-Level Training Spots I would now like to go over some low-level training spots, which are mainly safe spot-able, and these monsters don’t have very high Defence bonuses. At a low level, you can be using Iron Knives, Mithril Darts, or the Dorgeshuun Crossbow as a great way to train. Sand/Rock/Ammonite/Swamp Crabs Sand Crabs, Rock Crabs, Ammonite Crabs, and Swamp Crabs are probably the greatest way to train your Range and a lower level.
I am going to talk a lot more about those crabs in the Pure Friendly section. Hill Giants in the Edgeville Dungeon But, another low level training spot that is good for Ranged is safe spotting the Hill Giants in Edgeville Dungeon, These guys drop the Giant Key, which gives you access to fighting Obor,
- This can really change up your training a bit.
- Ogres to the East of Castle Wars Ogres near Castle Wars is a great safe spotting area to train your range and make a little bit of money form the herb and seed drops.
- But, almost always, there are people with a cannon here.
- So, it is usually pretty crowded.
Moss Giants (Varrock Sewer/Ardougne) Moss Giants are also are also a great way to safe spot and train your ranged level. They can be found in Ardougne, or in the end of the Varrock sewer, They have a very low range defence bonus, making them great to train on with a low range level.
Ranged Tip If you have a really low amount of money, I would recommend buying bronze arrows and the reason for that is because there is a 20% chance that arrows will be lost when you shoot them, That is the same for every single type of arrow, Using Rune Arrows, or Amethyst Arrows does not mean that they are going to break less than Bronze Arrows.
This is the same when wearing Ava’s Devices. Ava’s will not favour higher level arrows. I thought that was a pretty interesting tip that I should add to this article. The Dwarf Multi-cannon The next thing I want to talk about is using the Dwarf Multi-cannon, and training with the cannon is very, very expensive,
But, since the cannon has a Max Hit of 30 with Regular Cannon Balls, or 35 with Granite Cannon Balls, you can get massive Ranged XP rates, even at level 1, since that Max Hit does not change, based on your Ranged level. When you are using a cannon, you should have gear on that gives you a very high Attack bonus in whatever style you are using.
So, in a way, having a higher range level with higher range bonus, will increase the accuracy of your cannon. But, the Max Hit of it will never change.
- Profitable Cannon Areas
- I would like to show you guys some profitable places that you can use a cannon to train your ranged.
- Ice Trolls
A good example is Ice Trolls, and after the Fremennik Isles Quest, you can go to Jatizso by boarding the boat in Rellekka, and then running to the ice area to the North, you can set up a cannon on the ice trolls. They drop tons of valuable Alchables and expensive shields that make it guaranteed to break even, or make a little bit of profit when training with a cannon.
This should always be done on a Troll Slayer Task, and can give very high Slayer XP as well. Scabarites Scabarites are unlocked after doing most of the Contact Quest, and you can profit over 500 000 per hour, even with a cannon. They are located in the Sophanem Dungeon, and the fastest way there has to be using the Pharaoh’s Sceptre,
Locust Riders drop so many noted items and high level Alchables, making your trips last a very long time and you get very fast Range XP at the same time. Bonecrusher and Dragonbone Now, with both of these methods, Ice Trolls and Scabarites, you can pair both of them with the Bonecrusher and the Dragonbone Necklace,
This reduces the need for using Prayer Potions, and saves you a lot of money in the long run. Slayer and Cannoning Using the Dwarf Cannon paired with Slayer is one of the most efficient to train your Range. You get approximately 0.75 Ranged XP per Slayer XP that you get when you are training. So, this means that getting to 99 Slayer while using your Cannon, you will get around 95 Range.
Some examples of Tasks that you should be using your Cannon on are Suqahs, which you can get up to 60 000 Slayer XP per hour, and Kalphites, which are extremely fast with a cannon. The Fastest Way to 99 Now, for those people that are willing to spend a little bit more money on 99 Range, I am going to show the absolute fastest ways to 99 now.
But, further on, I will talk about some good alternative methods. Level 1 – 75: Cannoning The fastest way above 70 Ranged is using the Dwarf Cannon, Pairing it with Slayer or the Ogres at Castle Wars, you can get 70 Ranged in under 10 hours, Getting to 75 using a cannon will cost you around 8 000 000 – 9 000 000, which translates to almost 10 GP/XP, making it a very expensive way to train.
Level 75 – 99: Chinning Now, you unlock Chinning at a far lower Range level. But, it is only recommended to start once you hit above 70 Ranged, There are 3 types of Chinchompas you have access to. Grey Chinchompas are the cheapest ones to train with, but give the slowest XP rates,
I made a recent guide about Chinning at the Monkey Madness 2 Caves, In that guide, I talk about all of the requirements, and the best gear you should be using. For lower level players that have not done Monkey Madness 2, the Monkey Madness 2 Caves still give excellent XP rates when it comes to Chinning.
Getting to 99 using Red Chinchompas, it can c ost over 50 000 000, and with Black Chinchompas, it can cost over 80 000 000 to get to level 99. Your XP rates with Black Chinchompas can reach over 1 000 000 XP per hour, making it easily to fastest way to train your Ranged in the game.
You can only get these XP rates if you use the method at the Monkey Madness 2 Caves where you constantly stack the Monkeys on top of each other, By doing that, your Chinchompas always hit the maximum number of targets they can, giving you huge XP drops. So, Cannoning and then Chinning is the fastest way to get to level 99 Range.
AFK Methods to 99 Now I would like to talk about some alternatives, starting off with some AFK methods to 99. Level 1 – 99 (Ammonite Crabs at Fossil Island) First up is Ammonite Crabs, and in order to be able to kill these, you need to have access to Fossil Island, which requires the Bone Voyage Quest,
Ammonite Crabs are extremely commonly trained on, since they have a combat level of 25 and have 100 Hitpoints, They have a Max Hit of 1 as well, which means they will almost never lower your health down much. Ammonite Crabs also drop Fossils, Collecting a bunch of different items from the Fossils, you can get an XP lamp and kudos,
These guys can be trained on all the way through to 99 Range. But, by the higher range levels, you will have access to a few better monsters to train with for AFK training. Levels 50+ (Bandits at Kharidian Desert) Bandits in the Kharidian Desert have always been a great option for training your combat AFK in Runescape.
- By wearing a Saradomin or a Zamorak item, the Bandits stay aggressive to you forever, which means you will only log out if you don’t click or move or change anything after 20 minutes,
- Levels 70+ (The Nightmare Zone) The next one is the Nightmare Zone, and you can get up to 90 000 XP here if you are using a Blowpipe and good Ranged gear,
This requires almost no attention at all once you have set it up. The Nightmare Zone is especially important to get out of the way so you can get all of the Imbued items, So, if you have never been there, I would recommend at least training there for a while until you unlock some of the items like the Imbued Archer Ring or the Imbued Slayer Helmet.
Pure Friendly Methods Level 40+ (Ranged Guild) Now for some pure friendly methods, and the first one is using the Ranged Guild, By doing the Minigame all the way the back of the Ranged Guild, where you shoot the targets, you gain decently fast Range XP – over 40 000 XP per hour, while getting no Hitpoints XP at all, similar to what would happen if you are using a cannon.
Level 1 – 99 (Swamp/Rock/Sand Crabs) Earlier, I spoke about Sand Crabs and the other crabs, and Sand Crabs and Rock Crabs are great places to train as a pure. But, Swamp Crabs are one that not many people train at. What makes Swamp Crabs so good is that they have a Ranged Defence bonus of negative 55, meaning that you will almost always hit something when you are training Ranged.
- They also have a Max Hit of 1 and 75 Hitpoints, making them decent AFK XP at the same time.
- Level 1 – 99 (Experiments) Also, in the Port Phasmatys area is the Experiments, and these guys are level 25 with 100 Hitpoints,
- They are a great low effort way to train your Ranged, and usually are not very crowded anymore either.
Bosses you can fight with Ranged TzTok-Jad Now I want to talk about the Bosses that you can fight with Ranged, and the first one is JAD, Once you unlock the Rune Crossbow, you have a decent shot at completing JAD. The Fight Caves usually take over 1 hour, and killing him rewards you with the Fire Cape,
The King Black Dragon The King Black Dragon is another Boss that is very weak to Range, and once you hit 61 Range, you can very easily go and join a team and go kill the King Black Dragon with Ruby bolts and Diamond bolts to deal the most damage. Kree’arra Kree’arra is the Armadyl Boss, and the best way to kill her is by using Ranged as well.
Zulrah Zulrah, the solo only boss, also has a form that is weak to Ranged. Vorkath Vorkath is most commonly killed with Ranged, and can actually be killed on a Blue Dragon Task as well. The first boss I recommend killing after you level your range up is going for the Fire Cape at JAD,
- It will most likely take you a few attempts to get all the mechanics right.
- But, increasing your Ranged level will make it easier and easier.
- Free to Play Training Methods Lastly, I want to go over some Free to Play training methods and the Ogress warriors are probably my favourite place to train in Free to Play because they drop a lot off Alchable drops and valuable runes which will add up to a lot of money in the long run.
You can find these guys underground at Corsair Cove, They are very easily safe spot-able, and also drop Big Bones for you to train your Prayer, Now I would like to quickly summarise the entire Ranged Guide, Probably the most useful Quest for training Ranged is the Animal Magnetism Quest for the Ava’s Devices,
At low levels, you can train at a range of safe spot-able monsters, most of them being Giants, I covered the Ice Trolls and the Scabarites as profitable ways to train your Ranged with a cannon. I strongly recommend these to people that have unlocked them because you will get massive range XP rates while making money.
I also spoke about Chinning, which is the fastest XP rate at higher levels. In the AFK methods we had the Ammonite Crabs, the Bandits in the Kharidian Desert and the Nightmare Zone which is a lot more expensive than the other methods but gives better XP rates.
I went over the pure friendly methods, which included the Range Guild, which does not give Hit Points XP like cannoning the Sand Crabs, Rock Crabs and Swamp Crabs, which have a negative Range Defence bonus, and Experiments, which have a very, very high Hit Points level. Lastly, I spoke about the Bosses that you can fight with ranged.
Thank you for reading my 1 – 99 ranged Guide. I hope I have taught you guys something pretty interesting about ranged today. If you learned something or found some new training spots, be sure to leave a like, and make sure to subscribe if you are new. As always, thanks for reading this article, and have a nice day! : Theoatrix’s 1-99 Ranged Guide (OSRS)

Where do you level up range Osrs?
Levels 45–99: Chinning maniacal monkeys – Chinning maniacal monkeys. For more information, see Maniacal monkey/Strategies, Throwing chinchompas (commonly known as “chinning”) at maniacal monkeys is the fastest way to train Ranged. Maniacal monkeys are located in Kruk’s Dungeon on Ape Atoll, which requires having started chapter II of the quest Monkey Madness II to access.
While chinning is much faster than any other methods, it also costs money. It is best to use equipment that maximises the player’s Ranged damage and Prayer bonuses. Because of the low defence of the maniacal monkeys, Void Knight equipment is far superior to dragonhide or Armadyl armour due to the damage-boosting set effect.
Maniacal monkeys frequently drop 1-dose prayer potions which negates the cost of using Protect from Melee and damage-boosting prayers. Players who have completed hard tasks in the Morytania Diary and have level 70 Prayer can alternatively use a bonecrusher necklace to restore Prayer points.

How do you make odium ward?
Creating the ward – A player combines the three shards, creating the ward. The ward is created from three components: the odium shard 1, 2, and 3, dropped by the Chaos Fanatic, Crazy archaeologist, and Scorpia, respectively. When all three shards are present in the players inventory, they must travel to the Volcanic Forge on the most north-eastern part of the wilderness to forge the ward.

Is it better to cook on range OSRS?
Tips on levelling cooking – For players training Cooking with a low Cooking level, ranges can come in handy, especially the ranges within chicken farms. A common tactic would be to collect as many raw chickens as possible (which are commonly left behind by other players, who kill chickens to collect their feathers ), and cook them in the range by selecting “cook all”.
- A good place to train at low levels is in the Champions’ Guild,
- You can easily kill chickens, cook them, then sell them upstairs.
- It is highly recommended to use a Range over a Fire, as it will greatly reduce your burn rate, and thus increase your experience gained.
- Even better is to use the range on the ground floor of Lumbridge Castle, the Cook-o-matic 100, after completion of Cook’s Assistant,
The best place for levelling cooking is the bank area in the Cooks’ Guild which requires the completion of the Varrock Hard Diary for bank access. The range there is right next to the bank, so the time between banking and cooking is only a tiny bit better than at the Rogues’ Den in Burthorpe,
The time lost is more than compensated for, however, by the reduced burn rate on ranges. If you don’t have the requirements for the above, the second best place to level cooking is in Hosidius Kitchen, You require 100% favour with Hosidius House to use the clay ovens here, but there is a bank only 6 spaces away, and it also provides a 5% lower burn chance.
When cooking fish, you should always be wearing the Cooking gauntlets, a possible reward from the Family Crest quest. These gauntlets significantly decrease the likelihood of burning fish.

What weapon should I use to train range?
Ranged training – When training Ranged, it’s recommended to always use the best armour you can afford. While using throwing knives was once a popular method (Specifically iron knives ), steel or mithril darts are a better option now, as they are cheaper, share the same attack speed as iron knives, and have equal or better range bonus. Tip: The Rapid attack mode gives the best XP/hour.

Is Masterwork armor better than Torva?
This article has a money making guide here, Description: Smithing Masterwork equipment Please add tips to the subpage, rather than the article below. |
Masterwork armour is a full set of degradable power armour that requires 90 Defence to be worn. It requires 99 Smithing and completion of the It Should Have Been Called Aetherium achievement to create. It is the second-strongest smithable melee armour outside of Daemonheim,
Each piece of masterwork armour has 100,000 charges of combat, which lasts approximately 55 hours in average combat. Once augmented, Masterwork equipment does not degrade and can be used infinitely unlike Trimmed masterwork armour, and is the only non-degradable tier 90 equipment in the game. It is used as a component to create Trimmed masterwork armour.
New armour is tradable. When first equipped a warning popup window opens: Equipping this armour will mean you can no longer trade it. It will become tradable when degraded completely to a broken state; also if completely repaired. The Exchange price is different for new and broken armour.
Augmented armour is also not tradable. Masterwork armour is superior to Torva armour as it offers tier 90 bonuses over Torva’s tier 80, and is cheaper and far superior in terms of both defence and attack bonuses. Sirenic equipment is the ranged equivalent, and Tectonic equipment is the magic equivalent.
Masterwork armour cannot be dyed, It can be fixed by Repair NPCs such as Bob in Lumbridge, or at an armour stand in a player-owned house,

Is Torva the best armor?
Torva armour is a full set of degradable power armour that requires 80 Defence and 80 Constitution to wear. It was first mentioned on 3 January 2011 and released into the game on 10 January 2011, Torva armour pieces are obtained as rare drops from Nex, the boss of the Zarosian stronghold of the God Wars Dungeon, the Ancient Prison,
It is the melee counterpart to Virtus armour and Pernix armour, which are respectively Magic and Ranged sets. A similar set of armour is the Anima Core of Zaros set, which is somewhat cheaper than Torva and has similar stats. As tier 80 equipment, Torva armour is currently the fifth highest-level melee armour set in the game, behind tetsu, Refined Anima Core of Zaros, malevolent, Masterwork (Trimmed Masterwork) and Teralith equipment, and the third-best Melee power armour.
Torva equipment is the only melee power armour to offer a life points boost. Wearing any piece of Torva, Pernix, or Virtus armour, or wielding a zaryte bow, will cause all factions of monsters in the God Wars Dungeon (aside from bosses and Zarosian monsters in the Ancient Prison ) to be unaggressive,
The armour may be broken down at the Dragon Forge, located in the Ancient Cavern to praesulic essence (melee), which is required alongside malevolent essence and an elder rune bar to create masterwork trim, a component required in making trimmed masterwork equipment, This requires completion of While Guthix Sleeps,
Masterwork armour is superior to Torva armour as it offers tier 90 bonuses over Torva’s tier 80, and is cheaper and far superior in terms of both defence and attack bonuses. Like Torva, it does not degrade once augmented and can be used infinitely in combat without needing repairs.

Do torva boots degrade?
Repair – Ancient armour degrades as it is used. Equipment received from Nex or Treasure Hunter is fully repaired and can be used for 60,000 charges of combat (though it degrades by 2 charges per hit, making the minimum time 5 hours) until it degrades completely and requires repair before it can be used again; it does not suffer in performance as it degrades from fully repaired to fully degraded.
- The remaining charges of Ancient armour can be checked by right-clicking it and selecting ‘check-charge’.
- Additionally, Ancient armour may only be traded if fully repaired or fully degraded, excluding Shadow Gem variants.
- Items lose 20% charge if reclaimed from a gravestone after dying,
- There are two ways to repair Ancient armour.
Players can talk to any of the NPCs listed below and they will repair the items for a price, or repair the pieces themselves using an armour stand in any player-owned house for a reduced cost based on their Smithing level. The equipment can be repaired at any stage, and the cost will be adjusted according to how much it has degraded.
- Bob – the axe seller in Lumbridge
- Tindel Marchant – the weapon and armour repairman at Port Khazard
- Dunstan – the smith in Burthorpe
- Squire – in the workshop area of the Void Knights’ Outpost

Why is odium so strong?
I actually have several different theory’s on why odium is stronger than other shards.A. Odium takes up tiny splinters of other shards.B. Odium’s holder has a personality the complements the shards intent.C. Odium’s power is increased when people feel hate.D.
- Odium got power from a outside source/already had investure.E.
- Odium has more knowledge about shardic power.
- Reasons: A.
- Odium may take up small parts of other shards i.e.
- Part of dominion that will increase his power but not change his intent to something “good” for example a small part of dominion would increase his power but not change his intent.B.
A shards power might be increased if the shardholder’s personality matched the shards intent. In the letter it said that Rayse was already hateful.C. Most people will feel hate at some point in their lives thus increasing Odium’s power. This may also be why shardplanets have religious systems focused around that shard’s intent i.e.
Vorin religion focuses on honor/honor, the shin treat farmers like lords/cultivation, elantrians have many holy places/devotion, fjorden focuses on besting others/dominion, halladren focuses on endowing others/endowment, pathians focus on meditation/harmony this spreading of the shards intent may increase their power.D.
Odium gained power from some unknown source/other shard or already had power from before the shattering.E. Odium didn’t spend time creating species, terraforming planets, helping society because of this he had a lot more time to discover new abilities/find more power.
