Apple today announced that all iPhone 14 models sold in the U.S. do not have a built-in SIM card tray and instead rely entirely on eSIM technology. 
Tech specs on Apple’s website confirm the iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, iPhone 14 Pro, and iPhone 14 Pro Max are not compatible with physical SIM cards and instead have dual eSIM support, allowing for multiple cellular plans to be activated on a single device.
An eSIM is a digital SIM that allows users to activate a cellular plan without having to use a physical nano-SIM card. eSIM availability is rapidly expanding, but the technology is still not available in all countries, which explains why iPhone 14 models will remain available with a SIM card tray outside of the U.S.
for now. Apple’s website has a list of carriers that support eSIM technology around the world. In the U.S., this includes AT&T, T-Mobile, US Cellular, Verizon, Xfinity Mobile, Boost Mobile, H2O Wireless, Straight Talk, C Spire, and some others. The new iPhone 14 lineup consists of the 6.1-inch iPhone 14, 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Plus, 6.1-inch iPhone 14 Pro, and 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Pro Max, with all four devices available to pre-order this Friday, September 9 ahead of a September 16 launch.

Do iphones 4 still work?
Looks like no one’s replied in a while. To start the conversation again, simply ask a new question. I’m wondering if my mothers iPhone 4s will still work after 6 years of not being used is there a possibility? before I wish to turn it into apple or mabye give it to my mom for memories sake I’ll like to see if it will still work.

If it’s been powered off all this time the battery has likely died as well.
iPhone 4s is a 3g phone. And 3g is already shut down by most providers and will be completely shut down in the US soon. That means it won’t be able to operate as a phone at all. And at this point, an iPhone 4s is considered obsolete and there would be no support available from Apple for such an old, out of date device.

But there’s a good chance it won’t work at all, so spending money on a battery replacement is not a good investment.

I don’t believe they did that until the iPhone 5. Battery replacements were just processed as complete replacements. They still list the 4s as having replacement service, but that wouldn’t include anything where the contents would be recoverable. The assumption would be that it was properly backed up and then the contents could be transferred to a replacement.
If the contents are important enough, you might take it to a third-party repair shop. If it’s been stashed away for up to 6 years, I can almost guarantee that the battery is in deep discharge. But hopefully the rest is intact. I wouldn’t anticipate that the device itself would suffer from flash memory endurance (fading) issues after 6 years of storage, but that’s a possibility.
They could see if it’s in working condition, whether that’s by plugging it in to external power or maybe using a known, working battery. It might be worth it to consider a new battery if the service is cheap enough and you just want to take it home to just retrieve the photos and video.

A few months ago, a report by the Wall Street Journal showed that eSIM technology has become popular in Europe and Asia, where consumers tend to switch between prepaid plans to get the best data package available, and why this technology will only get more adopters. Even in the US where people typically stick with one carrier, the three major providers are also preparing for this cardless future.
WSJ reminded us that with last year’s iPhone 13, Apple stopped including physical SIM cards in the box, while some Android manufacturers even stopped supporting physical SIMs at all. “It’s a natural evolution,” said Jeff Howard, vice president of mobile devices and accessories at AT&T.
