  1. Prior to the cards being dealt, Players are given the opportunity to participate in the game by making a wager (Ante). An additional wager may also be placed on the Progressive Jackpot.
  2. The jackpot wager is independent of the game. However, the Player must have an ‘Ante bet to participate in the jackpot.
  3. Five cards (face down) are dealt to each Player and the Dealer, with the Dealer’s last card dealt face up.
  4. The Player pick up their cards and decide if they wish to ‘Bet’ or ‘Fold’. The Player are reminded that they are not permitted to talk or communicate while looking at their cards.
  5. If you think that you hand will beat the Dealer and wager (Bet) that is exactly double your original ‘Ante’ bet.
  6. If you do not want to play the hand, you must ‘Fold’ by placing your cards face down on the table. The Dealer will take your cards and ‘Ante’ bet.
  7. If the Dealer does not qualify, (i.e., he does not have an Ace and King or better), the Player’s ‘Ante’ bets are paid even money and all ‘Bets’ are ‘Standoffs’. The Dealer then checks to see if the Player wins a bonus/jackpot.
  8. If the Dealer qualifies and your hand beats the Dealer, you are paid the appropriate odds for the ‘Bet’ (see table) and even money for the ‘Ante’.
  9. Should the Dealer’s hand beat your hand, the Dealer shall take shall take both your ‘Bet’ and ‘Ante’.
  10. Jackpots will be paid after your ‘Bet’ and ‘Ante’ have been settled (see Progressive Jackpot Payouts; subject to Rules 7, 8 and 9).

How many cards are dealt in Caribbean Stud Poker?

How to Play – Caribbean Stud is one of the easiest and simplest versions of poker to play. And unlike many other poker games, players play exclusively against the house, not one another. Each player is dealt five cards face down, and the dealer also gets five cards, with one face up.

  • But before each player receives their cards, they must place a bet, called the “ante bet,” or just the “ante.” After the player looks at their hand, they have to decide whether to fold or play.
  • If they choose to play, they must make another bet — the raise — that’s exactly double the ante.
  • If they fold, they lose their ante.

Once all the players have either folded or raised, the dealer reveals their hand to see if it’s a qualifying hand. They must have at least Ace-King high to qualify. If they don’t, all the players still in the hand win their bets. If the dealer has a qualifying hand, it is compared to each player’s hands to see who wins.

  • Each player that wins is paid 1 to 1 on the ante bet.
  • How much a player is paid on the raise bet depends on how big their hand is.
  • If the dealer wins, they take both bets (the ante and the raise).
  • A player can also make a bonus bet in Caribbean Stud.
  • Most casinos have a progressive jackpot that pays out 100% when a player gets a royal flush.

Betting the bonus makes a player eligible for the jackpot and also pays out a percentage on other premium hands, usually straight or better. The payouts on the side and raise bets vary depending on the casino. These rates are usually posted somewhere near the table.

Who invented Caribbean Stud?

History – As a result of the popularity of poker, casinos created house-banked games in order to entice poker fans to play more table games. The birth of the game is not well referenced, which is unusual for a relatively new game. Professional poker player has claimed that he invented the game in 1982 using the name “Casino Poker”.

When he developed the game the rules had some differences, with the dealer having two cards revealed instead of only one. Likewise, there was no progressive jackpot in the game he allegedly founded. Sklansky was unable to patent “Casino Poker” due to patent laws, according to the story. A few years afterwards he was approached by a poker player who brought the game to The King International Casino in Aruba (now known as the ) and had it patented.

The poker player and the casino owner changed the rules slightly to create current Caribbean stud poker.

What are the odds for Caribbean Stud Poker?

When I calculate the combos of player and dealer hands for Caribbean Stud Poker, I get only 3,986,646,103,440 vs your 19, etc. I’m off by exactly a factor of 5. I used combin (52,5)*combin(47,5). Where did I go wrong? Thanks and I think your site is just great.

As a first time gambler in Vegas, I’ve been told to play craps and Caribbean Stud. How much money should I prepare to take to a sitting of each to try to stay in the game long enough to see results? Vinnie from Tulsa If you play long enough, the only results you will see is that you will lose all your money.

  • Don’t bring to the table more money than you care to lose in that sitting.
  • Second, Caribbean Stud Poker has a house edge of 5.22%, so if you’re trying to stay in the game as long as possible, I would avoid that one.

I’m finding it fascinating. Can you tell me the odds of the dealer qualifying in Caribbean stud. I’ve heard anything from 40% to 55%. I’ve been playing “blind” and therefore taking the human element out of the game, and have been successful, by not going out of hands that I would ordinarily go out on.

  1. Please advise.
  2. Thanks a lot.
  3. HNSTLWYR According to my probabilities in poker there are 1,296,420 ways out of 2,598,960 to form a pair or more.
  4. I also indicate at the bottom of that page that there are 167,280 ways to form an ace/king.
  5. So there are 1,463,700 ways to qualify, or a 56.32% chance.
  6. By playing blind you are bucking a house edge of 16.607%.

If you used my three rules of thumb in my section on Caribbean stud you would lower the house edge to 5.225%. Congratulations on a great site. While I usually play blackjack in Atlantic City, basic strategy only, sometime I like to try my luck on Caribbean Stud Poker.

What is the most popular poker variant?

Caribbean Stud Poker Online Free Thanks to televised events like the World Series of Poker, the game of poker has risen in popularity in recent years. Players are attracted to the game’s combination of psychology, probability and, of course, luck in trying to put together winning hands time after time.

If you visit a casino, you’ll notice that there are multiple different types of poker, each with slight rule variations that change the complexity and the strategy of each game. Here are five common types of poker you’re likely to see played at a casino,1. Five Card Draw Considered one of the simplest forms of poker, five card draw starts with each player receiving five cards.

After the initial deal, players can choose up to three cards to trade in exchange for new cards. The player with the best five-card combination wins.2. Texas Hold ’em By far the most popular version of poker played in America, Texas Hold ’em is the version of poker played in the World Series of Poker.

The game starts with each player receiving two cards to keep to themselves, and then progresses as five community cards are laid onto the table.1 “Players bet a total of four times during the game: after each player receives to cards, then three more times as the community cards are laid on the table,” says a spokesperson for The Casino at Dania Beach,

“Players use a combination of their own two cards and the five community cards to put together the best five-card combination possible, with the best overall combination winning the hand—and the chips.” 3. Omaha Hold ’em This variant of poker looks a lot like Texas Hold ’em, with two importance differences.

First, players are dealt four cards instead of two at the start of the hand. And the five community cards are all turned over at the same time, instead of being spread out over three rounds. However, players can only use two of their own cards when putting together the best five-card combination.4. Seven Card Stud In this game, each player is dealt seven cards.

Three are face down, and four are face up and visible to the entire table. Players use those seven cards to create the best five-card hand possible. “Compared to a game like five card draw, seven card stud can feature more dangerous hands since players have seven cards to choose from, instead of five,” says a spokesperson for The Casino at Dania Beach, Caribbean Stud Poker Online Free 5. Video Poker If you ask a poker enthusiast, video poker is not the same as a regular poker game. With this machine-based version, there are no other players—you’re only playing against the computer to put together the best hand possible. It’s not the same as the real thing, but if you find yourself overwhelmed at the live poker tables, it might be worth taking a break for the relatively lower-stakes, lower-stress experience offered by a video poker machine.
